Smith, Dean, and Associates FALSE Threatening Collection Calls Jacksonville, Florida
I have a very close friend of mine that was recently scammed by Smith, Dean, and Associates, located in Jacksonville Florida (although we cannot verify the physical address provided on letterhead is correct). She received a call from Thomas Curran (as others on here have too) she was told if she did not pay off a debt he was collectiong against her that she would be arrested. Unfortunately, she was scared and she did pay the money via Wal-Mart money gram as instructed by Mr. Curran, in an amount of 3x's over the origianl debt amount.
She has contacted an attorney and he has advised what this company is doing is illegal! This company's conduct is unlawful and the debtee is entitled to recover up to $1k in statutory penalties for the companies violation. If you need help with this issue, the attorney has also advised he will help you with no money out of your pocket as the debt collector is REQUIRED to pay for your attorney fees.
The attorney's information is listed below:
(((ROR REDACTED)))
It is about time we stand up to the nasty collectors. There is absolutely no reason why any collection company should be allowed to threaten consumers / debtors with false imprisonment charges...
Good Luck to anyone that needed this help. Mr. B is an awesome attorney and looks forward to helping anyone that has been or is currently involved with abusive debt collectors. This is NOT an advertisement, this is honest referrence to an honest attorney from personal experience with him and his firm.
