Smithtown Acura- Karen Zahn BEWARE OF ILLEGAL BAIT AND SWITCH TACTICS Smithtown, New York
Purchased a brand new MDX, Sales person was fair and offered a good deal. Issue was with finance manager Karen. She called and stated my credit score was in the low 600's. I ran my credit after our call because I was horrified only to find out she didn't provide accurate information. My credit was excellent as I had thought. When to pick up the car she was very aggressive and hostile in trying to sell me options such as warranties and add-ons. Stated I was lucky to get approved and the bank wanted the extra protection of the extended warranty. She promised me a discounted rate if I purchased these options and the rate was only available if I purchased these options. Which is illegal. She said that she pulled a favor and got me approved " which was a crock" and got me a rate of 4.99 or 4.49 if I bought added options. When I finally went to sign which was 2hrs later they advised me that they made a mistake and the rate would be even Higher in the 5's.
Typical bait and switch tactics, trying to build more profit into the car. General manager got involved and after a fight they made good on the rate. But only after I threaten to call the attorney general to report their unethical practices.
I would not secure financing at the dealership If you buy the car from them. This Finance manager is rude, unprofessional, ignorant and has shady ethics in my opinion.
