Soleil Contemporary defective furniture ripoff Farmington Michigan
Soleil Contemporary Furniture defective furniture; the business that doesnt give a dam Farmington, MI 48336 Farmington Michigan .....
I went to this furniture store to purchase a bedroom set for my son and a dining room table. I know that I would be overpaying but I heard that the furniture would be of high quality and different than anything else around.
I spent $4000.00 on this furniture. I paid $1000.00 cash and $3000.00 credit card. The bedroom set was to be delivered in a week. The dining room would take two or more.
When the delivery people came to deliver the furniture I directed them to my son's bedroom. Upon entering the house with the bed, the delivery guys dropped the whole bed frame and broke a leg off of it.
I immediately said that I did not want a broken bed. The guy told me that he would fix it. He took it apart and told me that it was repaired. I was a little upset but I let it go. I figured I would call the owner of the store and work something out.
After the delivery guys left I inspected the furniture. I saw that the armouir dresser that I purchased had a large gauge taken out of it. To make things worse, it was filled in with putty and colored in with a black marker. Then after I realized this I went to put the mattress on the frame and the whole frame came apart.
I immediately called the owner. She told me that she would repair the bed. I told her that I was totally unsatisfied with the quality of the furniture and I wanted her to come and look at it.
When the owner arrived and I showed her the gauge in the armoiur and the broken bed. She told me again that she would repair it. I told her that I purchased this furniture for its high quality and I do not believe that it is up to standard. I told her that I want a new bed and a new armoiur.
She told me that I was too picky and there is nothing else she could do for me. She got completely hostile and said that she had to leave because unlike some people she had a life.
After that I decided that I did not want to give her any business and I wanted a full refund. The next day I called her and told her to cancel the order and to come and pick up the furniture.
She then advised me that there was no way that that could happen because I purchased the floor model and it was "as is". I had no idea that I purchased the floor model. I told her that she did not inform me that I was purchasing the floor model. I also told her that I would have never have knowingly purchased a floor model and if I did purchase a floor model I would have inspected it in the store first.
She told me that all that she would do is repair it. I looked at the sloppy hand written receipt and scribbled in the middle was "Floor model as is". I was never told this or given the receipt until I left the store.
I tried reasoning with her and she would not take my telephone calls. Finally when I did get to speak with her she was more rude than ever. I had to threaten her with an attorney to keep her from hanging up.
Finally I got her to tell me that she would refund the furniture but she would charge me $300.00 for the use of my credit card fee (which is illegal) and the delivery truck. I accepted.
A week later the delivery men came to pick up my furniture. She had her delivery men give me $700.00 back but would not authorize the $3000.00 to be released.
I again called her and she wanted to talk to the delivery driver. She told the delivery driver to put the furniture back in my house and to forget the deal. She told me that the credit card hasn't paid her yet and she would not release the funds until she got the money.
I had contacted my credit card company when this happened and they told me that the funds had been immediately transfered when the transaction was made.
I called my attorney and she immediately called the owner. The owner then called the delivery driver back and told him to write a letter stating that the funds will be released.
I still have not recieved these funds. I just wanted to tell my story so that others could be informed about this furniture store. I have since disputed the charge and we will see what will happen.
