Complaint Review: SolidTech

My son received a Mirosoft webcam for a Christms gift. His computer has windows 8.1 operation system. The software that was included with the webcam was in a disk format. I searched the internet for a driver that could be downloaded so my son could use his webcam.  I purchased driver detective (that was suppose to be supported by Microsoft) and all of a sudden a menu appears to call a phone number  to call to further assist you.

Before you know it  you are swindled in purchasing a service package to help clean up your hard drive in order for the webcam to operate. They promise refunds for upgrades for a more effective packages. (even fancy talk to block pop-ups so infectious viruses can not be downloaded) They worked on my son's computer for many hours and they evenually got the webcam to work. But less than 24 hours later my son's hard drive has been corrupted and the windows program will not start his computer.

I usually do not fall for these type of scams. They were somehow able to advertise that this service was supported by Microsoft and Norton Sercurity. I even have an invoice that looks very professional and legitimate.

The "techs" are very friendly, smooth talkers and convincing even though I told them I was skeptical of their services.

Luckily the charge were still in the pending format so I was able to have the charges removed and a new card issued.

I have half of a mind to charge them to fix my son's computer and report them to the police.
