I noticed today that my AT&T phone bill (which is paid automatically monthly) was higher than usual. It had been about $15 more than it's supposed to be. Then I checked the last three months, and it was also billed at the higher rate.

So I opened up my online bill, and found a $12.95 charged billed by Enhanced Serv Billing Inc on Behalf of SOLO COMMUNICATIONS for: SOLO COMMUNICATIONS VMAIL MONTHLY FEE (in addition to 65 cents in taxes and fees).
I have never heard of either company, nor know the relation between AT&T and ESBI (which looks like the more legit company). I attempted to contact ESBI, but they conveniently operate Mon-Fri 9am-5pm ET.
Will complain to AT&T.

Contacted ESBI and Solo

#2Author of original report

Mon, March 05, 2007

Monday morning:
I called the 800 number for ESBI, and was told to contact Solo Communications directly. Lady was nice enough, gave me the location of Solo (Clearwater, FL) and their 800 number in case I "accidentally" get cut off.
I called Solo. Lady there was nice as well. Asked me for my phone number, name and address (and now for some reason I regret giving it to her). She said that some lady had ordered their voicemail service through a website called theuseful.com. by somebody I've never heard of. So then she said that they will credit me back everything they've charged since October, and that it will show in one or two billing cycles.... Will wait and see.
