I posed as my son to get auto insurance quotes by going on-line and asking for quotes., I stated the fact I was 28, had just gotton my drivers license and wanted basic california minimum insurance.

On 26 Aug, Lilian Ali sent a quote of payments of $29.00 per month and if I made an appointment and came in within 5 days I would get a $100.00 of my premium. Monday 28 Aug I called and asked how much for full payment. She assured me my full payment was $209.00. Confirmed this twice. I called back later the same day and set up an appointment for the next day Tuesday 29 Aug at noon. I also confirmed price of $209.00 again. I also asked if I came in with the $209.00 I could walk out with a fully paid 6 month policy and she said yes.

I sent my son down to her office on Tuesday with $210.00. When I got home from work I checked the paperwork and here is where it got funny. They charged him a $213.32 BROKER fee and that he needed another $29.00 to pay his first month payment. Since he didn't have the money, he had to sign a promissory note for $35.00 Payable to South Coast Auto Insurance Mktg, Inc. due by 5 Sept 06.

They set up payments of $39.00 per month with $10.00 a month going to them as a BILLING FEE. Of course, not knowing better he signed all the papers. This is a rip off.

I called wednesday to pay off full amount and was told I couldn't and had to wait until bill came in the mail. I sent an e-mail to Lilian Ali asking for the $100.00 promised and have not received a reply. I have also sent in the $35.00 promissory note payment so his insurance is not cancelled.

This is now thursday and I have sent another e-mail asking for the $100.00 and no reply as yet.

I consider these people rip off scammers and bait and switch artists. I know that there must be lots of first time drivers hooked in with the same dance routine. Will update this report as any changes occur.
