Not happy with the service from Solomon and Sons at all! Before selecting Solomon I researched and spoke with over 15 moving/relocating companies. This was over 25 hours of trying to get an accurate estimate for the moving job. Leo Walker at Solomon was relentless in pursuing my business. I did select this company for my move. From the day they arrived until several days after they delivered my goods I was disappointed with the service I had received. First Solomon estimated my move at 900 cubic ft.

When they arrived to pick up my items I was told I had 1120 cubic ft of goods. At $3.25/cubic ft. this resulted in surcharge of over $700 to my order. When they arrived at the destination they could not park their huge rig in my parking lot so I was charged another $100 for them to unload my merchandise. But the worst part about the move was that several glass items were broken (even though I paid for glass protection and it was packed by their movers, "medium" size movers boxes were missing resulting in the loss of valuable documents, electronics, etc. and my tool box was never delivered. This resulted in greater than $700 in losses to me on top of the extra $800 I paid for the move.

Before selecting Solomon I researched and spoke with over 15 moving/relocating companies. This was over 25 hours of trying to get an accurate estimate for the moving job.  You may have wasted your time speaking with over 15 moving companies.  Unless they could come to the house, seen everything you needed to move, and then have a surveyor provide you a quote in pounds, you wasted over 25 hours of your time.  If none of them were willing to do any of that, then none of them were worth speaking to.  Why would you even consider handing your important items over to someone you never met until the day of the move?

Scam movers quote in cubic feet so they can manipulate the price upward; the quote they provide you over a telephone isn't binding on them or on you.  If all 15 movers quoted you in cubic feet, then you spoke to 15 scam movers, and yes there are hundreds of scam movers out there, and most of them are in Florida.  Had you researched interstate moving on the internet rather than the companies, you would have found virtually all of this out.

When they arrived to pick up my items I was told I had 1120 cubic ft of goods. At $3.25/cubic ft. this resulted in surcharge of over $700 to my order.  Exactly.  You may have had 900 cubic feet but that assumes the entire thing is in a vacuum with no space in between.  The additional cubic feet is the spacing the packers put into the truck in order to jack the price up.  It's all perfectly legal when you quote in cubic feet.  If you get a quote in pounds, then it doesn't matter how they pack the truck.  Pounds are pounds.  They can't manipulate how much your stuff weighs, but they can manipulate how tight or loose the truck is packed.

When they arrived at the destination they could not park their huge rig in my parking lot so I was charged another $100 for them to unload my merchandise.  Well to be fair, that charge would be legit.  Most movers would have forced you to pay more for a shuttle.  You wouldn't have the long carry charge, but you would have had a shuittle charge which would have been more than $100.  But that means little.

Moving is not inexpensive.  Select movers who quote you in pounds, not cubic feet.  Make sure a mover sees everything before the move takes place, not the day of the move.  Never expect someone can estimate the cost of a move from a listing on a sheet of paper.  Best of luck to you...
