I purchased an Akita from SondaisaAkitas in March of 2011 and it turned out to be the biggest mistake. I have owned akitas all my life. My dad traveled to Japan 3-4 times every year for his job and brought our first family Akita home from there when I was a child. Since then we have owned over 8 different akitas in the last 30 years from various breeders and rescue organizations. The Akita we purchased from SondaisaAkitas was by far the worst and most expensive of any Akita I have ever purchased. I am extremely familiar with this breed and its unique needs and challenges and due to conscientious training and care of all my dogs have never, ever had a problem with any of them, except for the one from Sondaisa. My akitas were always well socialized, trained, and cared for, and the one from Sondaisa never received any different care or training than any of the others, yet it was an unruly, disobedient, and aggressive dog from the very first, leading me to believe there is an inherent streak of aggression in her breeding line. I have always kept cats and other dogs around my other akitas with no problems whatsoever, all family animals that were raised together always got along together, but the dog from SondaisaAkitas had problems with my cats from the very beginning and with other dogs as well. In the course of this animal's life she killed 3 chickens, 4 cats, and 2 small dogs. All of which were animals that came on our property, but still I have never had another dog react to animals the way that this one did.

We consulted an animal behaviorist and our vet and they agreed that knowing us and our history with animals, there was something inherently aggressive in this dog. We did everything we could to contain her and be responsible dog owners for her but we can't control other cats and small unleashed dogs running onto our property and unfortunately after killing yet another small dog, she drew the attention of someone unsavory and was poisoned on our property somehow while we were away. We contacted SondaisaAkitas on numerous instances with our concerns for this dog and of course, she tried to make it seem that it was our fault that she was aggressive, that we were bad dog owners. She also accused us of poisoning our own dog. However, our vet, our animal behaviorist, and all friends who know us, know that our other dogs have always been well-behaved, well treated, and trustworthy companions, unlike the dog from SondaisaAkitas. DO NOT BUY A DOG FROM SONDAISA IF YOU ARE SEEKING A TRUSTWORTHY COMPANION FOR YOUR FAMILY. SHE IS BREEDING EXCLUSIVELY FOR LOOKS WITH NO REGARD TO TEMPERMENT, CREATING DANGEROUS AND UNTRUSTWORTHY ANIMALS!

You claim to know both sides of the story, but I sure don't know who you are and I'm the author of the original complaint. I would hope that anyone reading both sides would also judge on spelling and grammar as to who might be the most reliable source. Your "rebuttal" is filled with spelling and grammar errors and is a long, rambiling, nonsensical rant.

I know both parties to this alleged complaint.
I have bred, trained andprofessional exhibited Akitas (and other breeds) for years. I know many of the Sondaisa dogs wel, and have stood soulder to shoulder withthem ringside without a single incident. Not so much as a raised eyebrow. The dogs were all calm, well mannered, and friendly to people and  other aniamls. We have shared grooming set ups and beenin very close proximity to s=ets and show dogs alike from this kennel. Their reputation for dogs sound in body and in spirit is strong.
The person who wrote his complaint acquired the female as state- truth ends there.  they immediately began complaining about how she was 'expensive" and "too small" - thebreed standard has a minimum height for show, dogs who do not make this height are often palced as pets (they are still healthy, loving animals even if they can't show).
The owner would grumble about the quality from time to time inferringhe apid too much, the breeder was always available. I spoke with BOTH parties several times throughout the time period of ownership and and well aware of the communication problems- which were by the owner.   This person continued through to tell me how much he loved the dog and another he acquired as a retired show dog from a third party.

In early may of this year the owner contacted me telling me he needed emergency assistance- that someone had opened his gate andlet the dogs out and they killed a cat.  He stated the HOA was forcing him to remove the dogs or move and he needed to keep his home and his family first.  He stated that the female would rightfully go back to her breeder (the male's breeders wouldn't have taken him back- owner had tried before).
Over the course of the new few weeks while I got resources together to rehome the male, I found out this owner had never bothered to contact the female's breeder.

Days later, I received a frantic email from him saying his dogs had been poisoned, that the female was dead and the male was very sick. He failed to get the male necessary medical treatment- I even offered to help pay for the  blood work- and he still hadn't contacted the female's breeder.
At ANY time during his ownership, he could have sent this dog back. She would have gladly taken back the dog had he ever bothered to call her- which he never did even when he said the dog HAD to go.
During his talks with me to rehome the dog, he went on and on about the good nature and temperament of the dog, how well behaved, how social with people and other animals. NEVER once did he state the dog had killed another aniaml, and even expressed disbelief that the cat killed in late April/early May had in fact been killed by his dogs.
To date, despite my offers to pay for the male's transport, he has failed to turn over the dog he said "had to go". Within weeks of the dog's poisoning, he stated that his wife and kids had left, they had "lost their home"  and he was living in a car. Transport was arranged and paid for- he wouldn't turn over the male (says a "friend" is holding the dog for him)
below is the email asking for placement assistance:

"I have a huge problem. I need to get rid of my dogs. There was a person that was doing something in my yard, no one knows what, and opened the gate to my back yard, ignoring the beware of dogs sign, and my dogs both ran out. They did not do any harm to whoever it was, but they did see a cat, and killed it. Someone called the cops and all that jazz, and now they labeled my dogs as "dangerous". Even though my neighbors, and others from the dog park I frequent said my dogs are always fun loving and get along with everyone, and pose no threat. Well, this started the HOA for my rented house to get into a frenzy, and now they have to go, or we have to go. I cannot find a brand new construction house that will allow large dogs. If you remember, I had mentioned that my family is suffering and trying to recover from severe toxic mold exposure, and must be very cautious as to where we live.
This is absolutely killing me as I have worked so f***** hard to make sure my dogs are well cared for and are nice, friendly examples of the Akita breed. On top of that, my Hulky boy has had such a s**t life with the B*****, and he is so happy to be able to live out life being able to relax and play like a dog. Do you have any input of what I can do? I know that Shadow can and should go back to Colleen, but I will not ever let the B**** have Hulk back. I cannot put him back in that situation, and since you know Hulk, and his old situation, I was thinking that you and your network of friends may have a decent solution. I am going to have to go pet free until my family is in a home that we own, hopefully in a year, then I will once again get another of my beloved Akitas. I look forward to hearing any input you may have."

where is the mention of killing chickens, cats and two small dogs? Why would someone want dogs with such a history to go into rescue where they could bring harm to potential adopters? why was the feamle NEVER returned to the breeder? ten days after this message the feamle was dead, the male was deathly ill and the owner said he couldn't afford any testing or teatments to help the dog, just hoped he could pull through.

the owners story has changed from telling to telling and person to person.  I have been hands-on with numerous Sondaisa dogs in the last 15 years and wouldn't hesitate to doso again. In my opinion, as a breeder, trainer and a person familiar with the situation over a three year period, the alleged complaint is a total fabrication. I have tried repeatedly withthis owner to offer assistance and there's always been an excuse why it couldn't happen.
