This company charges over 300% interest on loans and they harrass you to death about payment. I payday loaned with them before with no problem, then I ran into a hardship due to Hurricane Isabel and called them to make arrangements to cover the debt & was told to borrow the money, pawn something or else. It wasn't that I didn't want to pay the loan back, I just wanted two weeks grace. After a customer rep (Ms.Walker)who was indignant, nasty, rude and threatening called my job, which is illegal by the way. I instructed them not to call back which they did again harassing my front office. I asked for a supervisor and was refused that request.

Although we had a brief honeymoon with good loans (2) I've now seen their Jekyll side and will NEVER deal with them again. I'll deal with the threats or garnishment as it comes and be DONE with them. I strongly suggest you by pass this Payday Loan company at ALL cost. Their site gives you no address nor does their paperwork give an office number, that's why I didn't include it. I believe they are in Canada.

PayDay Loans are a good thing but not a long term solution. I'm working on repairing my credit so I can consolidate and get a real loan. Back in the day this was called lonesharking. Don't borrow money from SonicPayday

Yeah, They Are Crap...Glad I Found Out Before I Got the Loan

I was looking for a pay day loan, and applied with this company. I chatted with them online to finalize the loan, and boy did they give me a lot of trouble. They told me that even though I received a salary, I was not a real employee (where they get this, I don't know?). So, I know that if the initial application process is that difficult, they've got to be hell to do business with once you take out a loan from them. My advice: go to check into cash if there is one near you. All you do is write them a check and walk out with the cash the very next day.

i mistakenly used sonicpayday once. every payday of mine everytime i went to my bank to get money, these people took out money that was unauthorized. the loan had been paid back. so don't you tell me about sonicpayday, ill tell you. there was a man, i won't even call him a gentleman, who left a very threathening voice mail on my home phone and also called me at work. and yes it is against the law to call someone at their job and threaten them. i made a recording of this man from my phone id called, and i am suing sonicpayday for the money they took out of my bank account over $1500.00. that loan was for $300.00 which they took on my next payday, but, then every payday they took my money. they are crooks, very rude, and i do have an address in new jersey. so yes everyone should avoid these fly by night loan companies on the internet. all they want is your money and they take it no matter what. well, they have just come up against the wrong one this time.

Just for your information, it is not a 300% APR that Sonic charges. It is 701.92% APR, which is in violation of many state and federal consumer protection laws. Oh, and I won't even go into the violations of the Truth in Lending Act that Sonic is guilty of. You will find, with these online lenders, they attempt to hide behind the state laws of where they are located. However, loans are considered made in the State in which the "borrower" receives the proceeds of said loan.

The fact of the matter is, Sonic, as well as most other payday advance companies, prey on people who, in most cases, cannot afford to pay off their loans in full. They do not bother verifying if customers have the means to pay such high-interest loans and they in turn violate The Unfair Debt Collections Practices Act, when customers default on these loans.

I would suggest, to anyone who is a current or former customer of these payday advance companies, please research your local state's small loan, usury, and check cashing laws and if you find the company to be in violation of said laws, report them to the Federal Trade Commission at:
http://www.ftc.gov/ftc/consumer.htm

In response to being contacted at work for debt collections, they may contact you at work during regular business hours up until 9pm (the same as the hours you can be contacted at home). However, they must stop the calls if you request it.

Now, how is that for incoherent dumb-a*s ranting?!?!?

Sincerely,
An educated yokel

Ones personal financial management skills have nothing to do with ones intelligence.

If anyone is ranting & raving & making no sense (try using spell check once in awhile) it would be you. All that came out of your statement was a lot of name calling about people you do not actually know.

As far as you forgetting your rebuttals, this isn't a live chat room. Breath in & compose yourself & you might be able to think more clearly. You had plenty of time to organize your thoughts into more constructive statements.

PS- I have read that loan sharks do not commit such acts of violence for such a small amount of money as so not to drawn attention to themselves, which would be the smart thing to do if you are going to do crime. Rather they seize personal property until the issue is resolved & their APR is about half as much as these payday loan places.

http://slate.msn.com/?id=2059386

"Traditional street-corner loan sharks, alas, have not benefited from the deregulatory zeal. Legislators are hesitant to extend the payday loopholes to underworld figures, whose political influence is, er, a bit shaky. The sharks' dealings remain major felonies under RICO, even when they offer rates several hundred percentage points lower than the nearest ACE Cash Express, and they often provide better customer service. Unlike their legal counterparts, sharks negotiate rates, grant grace periods, and give "frequent borrower" discounts to loyal customersespecially business owners with deep community roots.

An April New York Times survey of the practice in immigrant enclavesthe sharks' current core constituencyincluded the tale of one bodega owner who receives a 20 percent APR from his shark, a reward for years of dependability. For a cash-only businessman whose murky immigration status or poor credit rating might get him laughed out of Chase Manhattan, that's a solid deal.

True, sharks also have a reputation for braining debtors with baseball bats. But violence is far rarer than one might surmise from watching The Sopranos. The New York Times report found few complaints of shark-related mayhem. Sharks prefer to seize personal property from defaulters, or hold immigration documents hostage, since brutality is likely to attract police attention."

It took Sonic Payday 4 days to process my loan, when it clearly states by the next business day.

OH BOY.........once you get your loan hold on to your phone because it's gonna be ringing every 30 minutes even if you warn them it you will only be able to pay a partial amount.

Yes it is so easy for us to over spend and hell to get caught with our pants down in a flood. But don't let yourself get bullied around by these people who you know are going to get paid anyway.

Sonic Payday makes it hard on you if you do not pay on time and they tell you that you have to Western Union them the money if it's late. In all reality they can take the money out of your account the same way they put it in and they will make sure they get their money plus a whole lot more.

This place does not commit fraud but thay do make suckers out of us.

Well first of all I have seen this loan process take under 24 hours, and I know for a fact that with the required documents this loan process can take as little as 16 hours. Yes it is true that sonic charges an interest rate of 300%, but don't forget my little retarded child that is APR, you do not loan with sonic on an annual basis. Sonic charges a flat $25/$100 borrowed, end of story.

I have heard many of you bitching about the treatment you receive after you default on the loan, who cares! You defaulted on the loan, and in reference to the old time loan sharking you're lucky your dumb a*s legs aren't broken. You signed a legal contract saying the money would be paid off on your next payday. You broke that contract, you will suffer the consequences.

You sign your name telling them they are allowed to garnish your wages through your employer, just try to get out of it. Morons! Boo h*o h*o Ms Walker was mean to me, quit beig such a dumb a*s w/ your cash and pay your debts, then Ms Walker won't be rude to you. Someone also mentioned something about it being illegal to contact your work? Where did this come from? This is the place they can legally contact you 24 hours a day.

Trying to read all of your incoherent dumb a*s ranting about a company who is there to help you if you're in need makes me realize what kind of southern yokel trailer trash actuallu use this service. You are all fools. I could go on for hours but I have been typing for so long that I forgot most of my rebuttals, let's see what other incoherent rant can come out of your slack jawed yokel traps that I can refute.

I was robbed a couple of weeks ago at my home and the robbers took everything and I mean everything, including my wallet (which had my bank card) and my safe, which had my checks in there. Anyway, I informed all of my creditors including my back and sonicpayday.com. The insisted that they would be deducted the full amount of my loan out of my account - I told them that the account was having identify theft problems and that my money was gone. They submitted the request anyway and of course it bounced - then they started sending me email after email telling me that it was returned - no shitte it was. I told them to cancel and close my account and send me a final bill to my home address, that way my attorney will be able to have an accounting to what needs to go out and to the proper people. But now - now I received a telephone call from them - to my office - which, if I remember is illegal.

Whatever you do - do not use these people - they are now trying to do the wage garnishment thing - which won't happen either.

Ok, I want to thank everyone who delivered this information and posted it for honest, hard working people so that we do not get ripped off. I recently came into contact with there business via a pop up window, should have been my first clue. I then filled out there form that tells you you can get your loan in less than 24 hours, yeah if you start at 1201 midnight. I had to fax over several copies of bank statements and LES, paystubs. It takes about two hours for them to recieve the fax and put it into there system, bullshit, it only takes a few minutes to put info down on the web even into a system ( apparently they haven't thought about a system and how it could work)Then they send me a contract telling me my money will be issued before 7pm Canadian time.

Well i actually fell asleep by the computers in the barracks waiting to see if it was issued or not. Then This morning I woke up to find that no money was deposited into my account and that my account, or loan process as they call it, on there web page still read processing.

I spoke with one of there representative, Mrs. Amelia, who was very polite but told me my loan was not being issued until Tomorrow and the money would not make it into my account until Tuesday. Thanks for nothing.

So I then read everyone's response and had my "Loan Process" Cancelled. So thanks everyone for your hones responses. You saved me a lot of trouble and hardships. So anyone else out there if you think about loaning from this awfull company take heed to everyones advice, you'll thank em for it later. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would put there name but then that might be advertising.

Ohh by the way when I cancelled it I made sure to cover my 6, lets see them try to "screw" a member of the U.S. ARMY.

iled complaints with the attorney general both here in Ohio and in Delware

#23Consumer Comment

Mon, March 22, 2004

I recently was looking for a payday loan, and tried sonicpayday.com because it didn't require ready access to a fax machine, they told me I could email everything in.

After the initial email, they said the documents were in the wrong format. So I emailed the correct one, twice, they to this date, have never 'received' my emails. They harassingly called my home phone, cell phone, and called me at work to fax documents for a loan I never received!

I filed complaints with the attorney general both here in Ohio and in Delware, which they gave me their 'home office' address as
901 Market Street
Wilmington, Delware.

Do not give them any of your bank information. Also, they pretty much refuse to give you anything in a written form, they keep wanting me to talk to them on the phone. I suggest if you do have a problem with this company, use their online help, because you can get a copy of the chat transcript sent to your email.

I applied online for a reloan. They did not confirm by mail or phone, their web sites were down, and there was no online "live" help. I sent emails about the status, but they all bounced. Their phones were not answered. I wanted to tell them to forget about it, but could not; besides, it didn't seem like they were around anyway. I was shocked a week later to find a deposit to my account (just a week before the repayment date). It will cost me $HUNDREDS for money I didn't want, and came too late for my needs. The worst part is they didn't even notify me that the loan was approved, and they couldn't be contacted to cancel because it looked like Sonic was out of business. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. Hopefully, they will be gone someday SOON.
