Sony Released OFW (official firmware update) 3.00 in September, causing many PS3 owners like myself to have hardware malfunctions with their bluray disc drivers. A class action lawsuit has been filed in california and Sony has not made a comment. With regards to the many people on the disscussion boards Sony accuses its coustomers of mistreating the system saying that the updater does not corrupt the bluray disc driver and that it is a coincidental hardware issue that may be serviced at the cost of $150.00, a reasonably high price considering that the current price for a new PS3 is $300.00
