SONY RELEASED AN UPDATE ON THIER PS3 SYSTEM THAT WIPED OUT THE BLU RAY DEVICE RENDERING GAME PLAY AND HOME NETWORKING IMPOSSIBLE. I AM ONE OF THOUSANDS THAT HAVE BEEN AFFECTED.  THE SYSTEMS WERE UP AND WORKING FINE, BUT IN SONYS ATTEMPT TO TWEAK THE SYSTEM, THEY FORCED THIS UPDATE ON ALL USERS, IRREGARDLESS OF THE EFFECT IT WOULD ON THE PS3  ESPECIALLY THE OLDER MODELS WHICH ARE INCOMPATIBLE WITH THIS SOFTWARE. THEY IRRESPONSIBLY PLAYED WITH THE SOFTWARE, AND NOW THOUSANDS OF US ARE WITHOUT A WORKIN SYTEM.  THEY BROKE IT   THEY SHOULD FIX IT.  INSTEAD THEY CHARGE 150 DOLLARS TO LOOK AT THE SYSTEM WITH NO GAURANTEE OF A FIX. I HAD TO RE PURCHASE ANOTHER MODEL THAT WAS COMPATIBLE WITH THE SOFTWARE. SO THEORETICALLY THEY KNEW THE UPDATE WOULD WORK WITH THIER NEW MODEL THE SLIM, BUT NOT WITH THE OLDER ONES.  DESIGNED OBSOLENCENSE COMES TO MIND   THEY GIVE NO DATE, OR VERIFICATION THEY WILL EVER BE ABLE TO BRING THE PS3 AFFECTED BACK.  HOWEVER THEY DO ACKNOWLEDGE ON THE FORUM THAT THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN AND THEYRE WORKING ON IT    SO THEREFORE THEY ARE ADMITTING IT WAS AN ERROR ON THIER PART,   MY SYSTEM WAS FINE UNTIL THE UPDATE OCCURED SO SAY THOUSANDS OF OTHERS ON SONYS FORUM SITE
