Complaint for Box Opening Fee for Defective Unused Sony Vaio in Jon Berkley, Store Manager 845-928-5112, jonathan.Berkeley@am.sony.com
Barry Botelho, District Manager, 774-299-7255

Sirs:
I requested Sony Vaio notebook, with Wi-Fi, Blue-Ray DVD read-write, TV Tuner. With 3 year in home service. Total cost $2140.66. The sales person Malcolm in the Central Valley, N. Y. Sony factory outlet told me the would give me a price match guarantee and would let me return in 14 days if I was not completely satisfied. That night I started to set up. First, I noticed obsolete clunky plastic TV tuner, not the TV tuner I wanted. Next, none of the software worked. Then I could not get on line. Cablevision my cable provider and T-Moble my hot spot Wi-Fi provider could not get me configured. Only the table of Contents of the help manual was on the computer. Since, I could not get online I could not get linked to the help manual. I spend several hours with Cable Vision
and T Moble technical support with no success.
Cablevision and T-Moble advised me to return the equipment since they could not help me.

I returned defective Vaio the next morning in less than one day. The store manager Jonathan Berkeley charged me off a $248.49 for opening a $5.00 box for defective merchandise. I believe this is illegal. Credit card charge $2140.66 minus credit 1892.17='s $248.49
How sleazy. I informed of Malcolm satification guarantee He did not care. The equipment was defective. Let's see it's returned 3 times they make 45% without an
actual sale. Rip off.

The return policy must be clearly indicated at the point of sale. It was not. In fact, I was told they had the same return policy as Best Buy. I believe this is a violation of New York State law. I believe the store should be avoided because they do not have technical expertise.
