Sony Ripoff would not honor the 5 year warranty National Corporation Nationwide

The 5-year warranty is worthless when the receiver is always in the repair center. My Sony receiver stopped producing audio after using it for about 6 months. I took it in to a local authorized Sony Center and they said it had to be sent to Sony because it was a specialty part that they couldn't fix it. It sat in Sony's repair center for 6 weeks. Sony's excuse was the part was on back order from Japan. Finally, after the long wait I plugged it in and it worked for about 2 hours before the same thing happened. Once again, back to the Sony repair center for the exact same problem. This time it was a two-week wait. I guess they must have had another one in stock.

A year and a half later the receiver's audio started to cut in and out. I finally got so sick of dealing with it, I asked Sony to buy it back, which of course they refused. Instead, they wanted to have it sent back in to them so they could evaluate it. A month later they came back with a $750.00 estimate to have it repaired. What? It is still under warranty, I said. They told me it was no longer covered under the warranty because the back panel had been pushed in. If there was any damage to it, I explained, they or the shipping company must have done it. They then told me that their repair evaluation and costs are final. I had to pay for the repair. I told them that I wouldn't spend a dime to get it fixed. What can I do? Waste more time and money fighting it.

Basically, I got screwed over by a huge company that now refused to honor their warranty. My experience with Sony has been very frustrating. I personally will never buy another Sony product ever again. I hope you don't make the same mistake by buying a Sony product.

After researching more I have found that Pioneer, Yamaha, or Denon would be a much better choice and offer far superior products, compared to Sony's. Don't be fooled into believing that Sony makes good products just because of the so-called longer warranty. DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON ANY SONY PRODUCT. Writing this review is the only relief I will ever have to help me through the horrible experience I've had with Sony. I have learned a hard lesson through all of this. I am telling you so you don't repeat the same lesson. Sony screwed me and will screw you too, if you give them a chance. Final words DON'T BUY ANY SONY PRODUCT.
