WATCH OUT!!!

Richard A. Smith and South Coast Windows and Doors stole my $3700 deposit and never installed my windows (and stopped returning calls shortly after getting the deposit in hand).

They have done this to others before and appear to be in the business of defrauding people out of their 50% deposits (which they insist on to purchase the windows).

They came out just like the reputable companies, giving a sales pitch. We signed a contract and we paid a $3700 deposit (50% of the purchase price). The windows were to be purchased directly from the manufacturer, Alside, and installed within 4-6 weeks. As of the date of this report, it has been 13 weeks.

Richard stopped returning calls after 4 weeks, never ordered the windows (Alside had never heard of him other than receiving 5 other similar calls within the last couple of months), and has no intent of returning my deposit.

From other posts, it looks as if this same company has scammed several of us. If you have been hit by this guy, please contact me at ((( ROR REDACTED))) to coordinate the pursuit of criminal charges against Richard Smith and the others involved.

Most states have a board to regulate construction services. I think in Thexas it is the Texas Residential Construction Commission. Try a search engine or telephone book for listings under State of Texas.

The other possibility is a claim in small claims court. People at the court house can direct you, or you may even get information on the web.

Scum such as this outfit rely on (1) people not knowing what to do, or, (2) people deciding it is 'too much trouble'. HA! Sic 'um.
