i use to work for south west plumbing they are a rip off. for instance bait and switch with thier coupons if you notice when you call for thier services they ask if you have a coupon. that is so they can let the plumber know so when he gets there to bid the job he can adjust his price to the coupon. they also never offer the senior discount that they advertise. alot of plumbers that work there get excited when they get work orders to senior citzen house because most seniors don't know the rates for plumbing or if they even have to do the work that the plumber recomends. for excample, you could have a cloged kitchen drain and the pipe was put in around the sixtys. the plumber will tell you that the drain can't be snaked and make you feel like youhave no choice in reality only they can't snake it but, what they fail to mention is there are plenty of other companies who can snake that kind of drain. it would cost them a whole lot less money where south west plumbing wants to charge you 12 to 15 hundred dollars to replace that pipe verses 100$ to have it snaked by another company. the reasons for this greed is every plumber makes 20% commisson on each job they do. each plumber every month sets a goal for himself what i mean by goal is how much money he is going to bring in for the company. the goal is set anywhere from 40 to 80 thousand a month. times that by 24 plumbers and you got a lot of money that the plumbers bring in and if they bring more than thier goal they get a bonus. which gives them a reanson to rip you off not saying its right and they have at least 8 plumbers that aren't journey men plumbers that charge journey men prices like beacon plumbing was doing and you would be amazed how many of their plumbers have drug problems. i don't know about you but i wouldn't want someone high working on my plumbing. not to metion the danger they put there coworkers especially when they're digging 6 to 10 foot trenches that could callapse at any time because of one mistake which almost happened to me had a plumber leave apprentices on a job where we were digging a trench that size and it callapsed and almost buried me all because the plumber i was with was stoned. so the reasons i tell everyone this because i believe in bad carma which is another reason i don't work for this company any more. i don't believe that it should continue to be allowed to run its buisness this way especally in these hard times

My name is Dave and I am The Service Manager of South West Plumbing. I am responding to the comments made by Mark about South West Plumbing. First let me say that I am not aware of anyone named Mark that used to work here. I suspect that either the name is not correct or that he never did work here.

Mark states that we ask if the customer has a coupon. If you have ever called our office you will find this to be untrue. If a customer states that he or she has a coupon we do inform the plumber so that he is sure to ask for it. This is done for several reasons. One reason is to track our marketing and the other is to save the customer money.

Our plumbers use a price guide to determine the cost of each job. They are not allowed to increase the prices above the stated price. In fact most of the time we encourage our customers to find a coupon while we are onsite. Our coupons can be found in most phone books and online as well. We always quote the complete job before we start so that our customers are well informed of what we propose and the various options that they have.

We offer a senior discount to anyone that asks. We even have the Senior Discount logo on our trucks for all to see.

We encourage all of our customers to compare what we offer to what others are offering. In fact our plumbers ask seniors if they would like to consult with a friend or relative before they commit to getting a service performed.

In his comments Mark says that we insist on replacing a drain line instead of snaking. This is simply not true. If a customer complains that the drain has given them problems for a long time we do offer replacement as an option along with snaking. Many times we come across an older home that was plumbed with galvanized pipes and many years later the homeowner added a disposer. All disposers are meant to be operated with modern plumbing. The older plumbing cannot handle the waste from the disposer and the customer ends up with a clog several times a year. Many companies see this as a repeat customer that they can milk for years to come. They simply tell the customer that they can clear their line and plan on coming back year after year. I don't know about you but I would prefer to get a problem solved the first time and not go through the same ordeal time and time again.

As far as goals, every successful person sets goal for themselves. Goals are a positive experience and allow individuals to reach and exceed their potential. Show me a man with out a goal and I will show you a loser.

For the record: South West Plumbing has a drug policy and each employee agrees to consent to a drug test. We also provide drug counseling and rehabilitation should any employee test positive. We care about people, customers and employees alike.

In addition South West Plumbing screen applicants for criminal background and would never employ anyone that was a danger to society.

Safety is of the utmost importance at South West Plumbing. Our record with the Department of Labor and industries is among the best in the country. We care about our people and provide the best safety equipment and training available.

We help well over 10,000 people a year with their plumbing and heating problems and we are proud to serve Seattle and the entire Puget Sound area

I welcome anyone to contact me to discuss any of these issues. . Our Phone Number is 206-932-1777.
