I had a *pleasure* (yeah, right) of doing business with Southern Motors, and I regret that I ever did! I'm glad I wasn't the only one. My mom have always been a customer at Southern Motors, she had bought several Jeeps from the Kaminskys, so I took my '98 Jeep Wrangler I bought in Atlanta for service. I'd just moved back from Atlanta after going to school there and now my husband is based at Fort Stewart.

My tires had been wearing out unevenly so my husband took it in to be balanced, aligned and have oil changed at the same time. He waited in the lobby for *8 hours* waiting for the work to be done! He even had an appointment, too. Service Manager kept telling him how sorry he was that it wasn't done sooner, he even gave us a free oil change next time around. We were happy about that.

Next time I took in the car because a check engine light had come on. I dropped off the car in the morning (might I remind you I had made an appointment again), Service Manager called me around noon and said they hadn't gotten around to our car yet. He was very apologetic and I felt bad, because I knew it wasn't him personally who was doing this. I called around 4 p.m. and a different person answered, and now he didn't really know what was going on! My husband dropped by later that day around 6 p.m. to see what was happening. Turns out they had taken apart our engine, without our consent, and now the part of it had fallen into pieces (they said the engine was old) and they needed to order new parts. Needless to say we were outraged; my husband is a mechanical engineer and he's not stupid - he knows about eninges and they treated him like an idiot! When he asked for the service manager we spoke earlier that day, they said he wasn't there anymore, and when he asked for the owner he wasn't there either!

So I called my mom that night and told her what happened; she said she would call Myron the owner and have it straightened out. Well, what happened? She said he was condesending, patronizing and totally made her feel stupid. She couldn't believe it - he didn't even remember she bought all these cars from him.

My husband's company commander's wife said she also had a bad experience with them...only in her case her wheels were loose after she had it aligned. And, to my astonishment, my grandmother had a bad one herself...she was stuck without a vehicle for a week!

I checked with Better Business Bureau, and they said there are several complaints against them filed in the last few years. I really wish I checked with them *and* Ripoffreport.com before I even thought about going there. I just don't understand how they can stay in business, now especially what I read in this website...whoever was first to report them ought to be proud!!

So........watch out Savannah! Go somewhere else other than Southern Motors if you can.
