Southpole/Wicked Fasions, headquartered in Fort Lee, NJ, with showroom in NYC, and online business affairs, has been sued for the abuse of native Korean workers at their factory in Korea, including lack of overtime compensation, and basic worker treatment.  The company has domestic sales in excess of $300 million, and the president, David Khym, has used his knowledge of the culture in Korea to his advantage - profiting from overworked and underpaid individuals that are simply told - "you must stay till the work is done..."  Southpole sells trendy apparel, primarily to the youth market, with also men's and women's lines, and is present in numerous retail establishments, often carrying "celebrity" sales influence.  Their products have an excessive markup and profit potential due to current trends, but is also excessive relative to the kinds of materials, costs, labor, and overhead.  The company has also received an "F" letter grade by the Better Business Bureau, extremely relevant as the company has actually been assessed and graded by the BBB, not simply deemed "NR." (Not Rated)  Any executives, sales persons, or management at Southpole/Wicked are also highly accountable in being complicit with this horrific business practice in conjunction with Mr. Khym.  It is highly advised that consumers and the general public are made aware of a company such as this, which have mistreated employees to reap financial gain.  It bodes well for any consumer to not purchase any products from Southpole/Wicked  due to this vital stipulation. There is plenty of information about this company online.

WICKED FASHIONS, INC. RESPONDS TO FALSE STATEMENTS OF FACT AND TO DEFAMATION OF MR. KHYM

The Reports posted on 05/18/2012 and updated 7/16/12 contain the following deliberately false statements that defame Wicked Fashions, Inc./SOUTHPOLE® and its founder, Mr. David Khym:

  1. Wicked Fashions Inc./SOUTHPOLE® has never had a factory in Korea.

  2. It has never been sued by a factory-worker or any other person in Korea .

  3. It’s Better Business Bureau rating is A+, not “F”.

Mr. Khym vigorously denies mistreating people of Korean and any other national origin.  He is a dedicated member of his community, and has given employment to hundreds of people.  Mr. Khym has donated millions of dollars to the SOUTHPOLE FOUNDATION, which he founded 15 years ago to assist those in need in the New Jersey and New York areas. Some of these donations are earmarked for organizations providing healthcare, scholarships and other services to people of Korean descent.

The report maligns SOUTHPOLE products.  For over 25 years, our products have been sold JC Penney’s, Burlington Coat Factory, Ross Stores, Sears, and other fine retailers because millions of their customers enjoy  the value, style and quality of SOUTHPOLE apparel. We invite you to visit www.southpole-usa.com and http://www.southpolefoundation.org/index.html to learn more about the SOUTHPOLE and THE SOUTHPOLE FOUNDATION.
