Our all Republican Arizona Corporation Commission, which is supposed to be protecting us, has allowed Southwest Gas to add on a new EEP charge as of Nov 2014 (they were probably paid off).  If the weather is warmer than normal and you don't use as much gas as they think you should, they now have the right to add a charge onto your monthly bill, based on what they think you should be using.  My EEP charge for Nov. was $16.17. This is more than the basic gas fee to keep the service on and you get nothing for it.

This charge will be listed on your bill as EEP Weather Adj.  File a complaint with the AZ Corporation Commission.  Call 5 on your side and channel 12 investigations.  Post online.  If there is an attorney out there, we would be interested in filing a class action lawsuit.

I am getting SW Gas out of my house.  Electricity has become cheaper.  I am using an electric convection oven instead of my gas oven.  If necessary, I am prepared to use space heaters until I can get my A/C/heating unit switched out for an electric heat pump.  You can put a solar panel on your roof for your hot water heater or put a timer on an electric one such that it only turns on during off-peak hours.   The key is to use all of your electricity off-peak.

Southwest Gas and EEP MUST BE STOPPED!

I agree with you on these charges.

SW Gas MUST BE STOPPED!

Over the past 4-5 years I have done everything to my house to make it as energy efficient as possible to lower my expenses for electricity and fuel.

These upgrades include:

Window Tinting
Adding Insulation
12kw Solar Installation
Ultra High Efficiency Gas Water Heater
Replacement of A/C Units with higher SEER units.
Replacement of Gas Furnace units with higher BTU units.
Adjustment of temperature in zones of the house.

So now that I have made this changes, SWGAS seems to think that I have taken away money from them... YES I HAVE, that was the point... .LOWER MY UTILITY EXPENSES.

These charges are total BS.

How is it right for me to be PENALIZED by the UTILITIES for USING LESS!!!!

My last bill from SW GAS while it was only $40, 25% of it was EEP!!!

Yes, I was "taxed" a 25% rate for gas that I DID NOT USE.

THIS NEEDS TO STOP!!  Customers that have done things to their homes to make them more efficient need to be REWARDED and NOT PENALIZED.

These changes make me only want to FULLY DISCONNECT from the GRID, including GAS...

Here is a link to the info about the EEP:  http://www.swgas.com/tariffs/aztariff/decoupling/

Also here is the link to the AZCC Application from SWG that includes their request for this EEP:

We need to group together a customers of SWGas file complaints to the AZCC.

Today, I received a call from a S/W Gas Rep who repeated everything as before causing further confusion. I asked this Rep if S/W gas could post information on Face Book related to the costs of our January gas bills besides telling us what we already know about, tips on lowering our gas bills, lowering the thermostat to 68 degrees etc. etc. I asked the Rep if she could post the costs of a Therm in our community as compared to other communities.

I also asked if S/W gas could post the explanation that during the month of December there were two weeks of cold temps between 33 and 39 degrees. Therefore, to prevent further surprises, when we experience these temps again in the future, consumers should use electric space heaters to keep the thermostat at 68 degrees. I asked the S/W Rep if S/W Gas could post this on Face Book, however, the Rep stated it could take a while since authorization needs to be done, so in other words, consumers may never see this posted.
