Three years ago I was in the process of starting a remodeling business. I had spoken with a rep from southwestern bell yellow pages, who came out a drew up some advertising ideas. Well the rep has me sign a paper called application for directory advertising but I don not get any copies of this paperwork because he said they would mail me a proof and a contract for the advertising. Two weeks came and gone and so I did not think they were going to publish my ads. When the new phone book came out I grabbed it up and started looking for my ad and it was in the phone book alright with the wrong phone number!

I called Southwesternbell and told them the ad was wrong and they said well you signed for the ad and they would not discount the ad what so ever. For two years I did not hear a word from anyone about the ad or owing money for it untill a year ago when I was served a summons. I then contacted the attorny and asked her to send me copies of everything I signed. She did not send me the paper work and then tried to get a summery judgment. I think she did not think I was going to show up to court and she was very suprized when the judge called my name.

The judge said he would allow me to write a motion in responce to her claim. I wrote the motion thinking the judge is going to throw this out because the phone number was wrong and that I never seen the proofs and he would see were the rep signed the actual documents with "sig on file" I never signed these papers, never seen the proofs for the ads, or agreed to the phone number being wrong. Well this friday the judge sided with south western bell. So do not sign any documents at any time thinking the rep is a nice guy and they are not going to rip me off, well the did to the sume of about $2000.00

SBC Strikes Again

Yesterday,10/11/04, a women calls me at my office and asks if I've given permission for my carrier to be changed to a different provider for my 2 lines. I tell her NO. She then proceds to tell me about SBC's new services, where I can get $200 credit and 15% off all services, for a 2 year contract, if I switch to SBC. What a blatant ripoff marketing ploy. Beware SBC. They use the concern of being slammed to pitch their services.

Well, an update to my previous complaint. I have an attorny who is handling this case now.SBC's claim is that I gave the wrong phone number to the sales rep and they based their second motion off that and that is what the Judge sided with. SBC will have to prove that I gave the wrong phone number!

Anyone who is reading this article please beware of SBC's terms and conditions with their yellow page advertising. Read every thing carefully. I would also like to know of anyone with anyone who has had an experiance like mine. I will keep this article up to date as the case progesess.

Please beware that SBC will do everything in their power to show that you are the one who is wrong. Whatever happend to customer service? Don't expect it with SBC.

Another SWBYP Ripoff

Another SWBYP ripoff. According to them a year can have 13 months. Sign a 1 year contract and it's for 13 months. Kind of like Tx DOT's month, 1 month=42 days.
