Complaint Review: Southwood Mini Storage

In 1996 I rented 2 storage units from Southwood Mini Storage my rent was $60.00 per month. One unit was filled with very, very expensive furniture, china, and lamps, silver, else. The other unit was a RV space I stored class. 1964 T-Bird I was restoring. I moved up northern cal. with my family and have been there ever scents. I was only back there twice in 1997. My rent now is $145.00, and I have a tenet for about eight years now. Paying around $13000.00 or more rent to Southwood Storage.

February 14, 2004 I went there to sale my T-Bird. When I arrived at the Southwood Storage I had to ask the manager three times to let me in the gate. When he finally let me in I drove up to my unit Two young men that worked there were out from my unit looking scaring or shady. My unit door lock I had put on was gone there was a lock on the unit door but it was on were they put a lock to keep out if you don't pay But wasn't actually locked on the door so my unit was unlocked. I open the door and almost every thing was gone. All that was in there was a couple of boxes of family things, pictures, pots, dishes, mattress, etc. Not even a quarter of what I had put in the unit. But don't get me wrong I thank God for my children's picture, my baby brother that was kill last year at the age of 21. The management acted like they knew nothing about it was no big deal to them.

When I need to make a police report the manager in charge acted like it was something he had done more than a couple of times. He knew the routine no big deal. One of the men said when I was making my report that they do a lock check very 1/2 hour opening to closing and he had done one about a 1/2 hour before I arrived unit wasn't unlocked like it was when I got there. I'll never know how long my storage was left unlocked and cleaned out. They just took my rent payment of $145.00 month after month, year after year. It could have been open, unlock and clean out for years. I'm sure I'll never know. The amazing thing is how they treated me.

Manager acted it was nothing to do with him like he hasn't been cashing my rental payment every month knowing my unit was not locked up never once a phone call to tell me, they just kept taking my money. So anyone thinking of doing business with SOUTHWOOD STORAGE BEWARE if you want the thing you pay to be stored do not go there. All I can say about management and the security of the building scant less, rude trash, very, very shady.
