Further to other people here who have not received the same rebate, I also want to add my complaint. In March 2004 I purchased a Soyo P4-VGA motherboard and an Intel celeron processor from Tigerdirect.ca. This was being sold as a package for a single price. There were two rebates on this package. One for $20 and one for $62.99. The one item did not require a UPC code, so I was able to send in both rebates. Before I made the purchase, I explained that my work was making the purchase on my behalf, but I would be applying for the rebate. I also phone the rebate phone number and explained this. Both sources said this would be okay.

Now its November and after many inquiries, I finally got a response back from Rebates@Soyousa.com:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Our records indicates your rebate(s) was not approved. Here states why
you were not approved. DIFFERENT NAME ON INVOICE AND REBATE FORM
We do apologize for any inconvenience there may have been. Thank you.

Best Regards,
Rebate Dept.,
Soyo Inc.

According to other reports on this site, this is an identical email. So its probably a form letter.

This condition is not anywhere in their fine print on the rebate form. Other than being an excuse not to pay, I don't see why they would care if the purchaser and rebate have different names. I still bought the product and sent them the UPC code.

Has anyone ever tried filing a class-action suit against these rebate companies? I'm starting to think that consumers have reached a boiling point when it comes to these "rebates". When it comes to the electronics stores, I would rather buy an item for a little more then have to go through the reabte hassle every time.
