Complaint Review: Speedy Transmission Knoxville

This place is a total rip-off. When I dropped my car off they gave me a quote for $350 to fix a minor damage to the transmission. The car was drivable when I brought it in and they told me I didn't need a rebuild. They said they would have it done the next day. The next day we had to call them as they never got back to us and the job was now $800 max because a part had now broken off. They said it would be fixed in a day. The next day we once again had to call them and they then said the trans. needed a major rebuild and it was going to be min. $2500. Sounds like a classic scam.

Now Speedy Transmission won't give me my car because they actually (unauthorized) took my transmission out and sold it to the junkyard--at least that is what they said, but they don't know which junkyard they sold it to so we can't call to verify. They have now had my car for over a week and they say it will take 4 more days for them to just put the old one back in so I can take it to a real mechanic. The mechanic at the Ford place said that according to the codes that the computer diagnostic revealed, the transmission should have never been taken out of the car, and there was probably actually nothing wrong with it to begin with!!!
