Complaint Review: spirit airlines

Spirit lures people with low fares and then tries to bilk them with additional fees.

Somewhere in the fine print, they disclose that there is a 40 lb and not a 50lb weight limit for a  checked bag (in addition to the fee, which is more if you do it at the airport vs online).  Tricked me- $50

Then, when you get to the actual plane, they have a ridiculously sized box to fit your luggage into.  They watch you try to fit into it and then charge $100 PER BAG if it isn't "completely submerged".  I have 2 bags that I have purchased specifically because they are the perfect carry on size, that I have traveled with for the last 2 and a half years without a single incident.  You would be hard pressed to get a lunchbox to fit "completely submerged" in their little box.  

$300 later, my trip is not so affordable.  

If it matters to you at all, the smug "it ain't my fault you didn't read the fine print" attitude with which these b***ards take your money will make you wanted to smash everything in sight.
