Purchase a ticket for about $380 dollars about 4 weeks from flight date; cancelled flight about one week out fro flight;  was charged of the ticket price as a cancellation fee;  Was actually given a new reservation code for half of the flight credit that was to be used fr another flight.  When attempted to use the other half of the ticket credit, was told that I had to also cancel the half of the new ticket credit that I was give by them; and since I did not cancel the ticket "credit"  that they gave to me, I therefore forfeited that money as well.  In other words, I paid for a full flight, cancelled in the appropriate time frame and then did not get a d**n thing except a feakin' poker up the a*s rip-off.  They took every fuc'n penny of my $380 and I got absolutey nothing.   This is easily the most immoral, incompetent bloodsucking company that I have ever dealt with.   I strongly urge any and everyone not to ever fly this rip-off airline. You will eventually get screwed by them.  Trust me. And don forget the baggage fee roulette and $3 per bottle of in-flight water. This company is a freakin' loser.

- You apparently don't fly much, or at least not in the last decade or so.  You bought a discounted fare "non-refundable" ticket.  Once you buy the ticket, there is no such thing as the "appropriate timeframe".  Also, unless you specifically ask for a full fare ticket with just about any airline you are going to get the discounted fare with the same restrictions...yes this would have happened with just about any airline you bought a ticket with.

Oh and if you wanted a FULL fare ticket that would have allowed you to get your money back right up to the flight..it would have been around $1000 instead of the $380 you originally paid.

Now, don't get me wrong I would not fly Spirit even if I was given a free ticket(well perhaps in that case).  The point is that you are complaining about something that is standard and would have happened with just about every airline.  The one exception is with Southwest Airlines...their tickets are still non-refundable but they are really the only airline left that doesn't charge a "change fee" on their discounted fare tickets.
