Complaint Review: Spirit Incentives

Spirit Incentives GasUp America Sound too good to be true? Always. Spirit hooked us w/the right bait. They couldn't make it more confusing and frustrating! (They count on that.) Fort Lauderdale, Florida

50 deg monsoon weather, drove across long bridge w/promise of "$50 gas card," for coming from a different city; AND, "free" travel of flight or cruise; AND "free" 3-day/2-night vacation in one of five cities.

The 1.5 hour presentation went to 4 hours as we were herded like cattle from one segment of the presentation to another. Our seats were still warm as we left our chairs to exit the Phase 1 presentation room, when a new crowd was already entering thru another door.

We were handed off to our salesman and given the hard pitch. Any time someone gives you an offer that expires when you leave the room, we say no. That saved us.

We left with papers to send in to companies (Spirit and GasUp America), who would then register us. GasUp would send us five $10 coupons for gas. The requirements are intricate: one coupon ea. 30 days; purchase must be over $10 but you are rebated only $10; original rct only, no credit card rcts, etc. First contact, the refund was for "any entertainment, movies, theme parks, gas, fast food meals," etc.; second mailing, I noted the words, "gas only." Ok.

We are now on mailing contact 3 and all the "free" items promised (the bait), seem at least 3-5 more mailings back & forth away. I'm good w/paperwork but keeping up w/this seems a fulltime job! Shall I take stock in the USPS and my local copy center, or just chalk it up to gullibility?
