Reservations on Spirit Airlines to Las Vegas were made on October 11, 2012 thru Cheap Air.

The first part of December, I went direct to the Spirit Airline site to review my confirmation.  At that time, I figured out that they charged:

A higher rate per bag if you were not a member f their $9.00 Fare Club

Paid a higher bag rate at the gate than selecting and purchasing the number of bags you were going to take

Charged $2 to print your boarding passes at the gate

Charged $12 to select seats.  They made no mention regarding traveling partners ticketed on the same confirmation code would be seated together so it left you to assume you would have to pay the $24 to be seated with your spouse.

After researching their web site, I determined the Trial Membership in their $9 Fare Club would be the best option for me.  I selected the Trial Membership for $19.95 not the full membership of $59.95.  Spirit Airlines initially charged my credit card for the $19.95 then switched that amount to $59.95.  I never authorized that fee.  They said I did; but I did not.

When we arrived at the gate at DFW at 8:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, we were told the flight was cancelled due to mechanical problems.  They could rebook us on a later flight at 4:45 or 6:00.  By

the time they could rebook us, it was on the 6:00 p.m. flight going to Houston with a three (3) hour layover.  Then catch a 10:00 PM flight to Las Vegas arriving at 12:10 a.m.  They have no agreements with other airlines.  They gave us a $7.00 voucher to be used at the DFW Airport.

In speaking with the other travelers in the airport, we learned the plane we were to take came in from Fort Lauderdale to pick up passengers in Dallas and then go onto Las Vegas.  These passengers from Fort Lauderdale were first told they could stay on the plane. Then they were all told to take their belongings and leave the plane.  Spirit Airlines then loaded that working plane with passengers and sent that plane to San Francisco.  Yet, Spirit Airlines LIED and told everyone leaving the Dallas Airport the plane had mechanical problems in Las Vegas.  Obviously, that statement did not make sense.

And, after my experience with Spirit Airlines, I will not ever be flying Spirit Airlines again.

I think Spirit Airlines should be investigated for their switch & bait charging tactics and if they can legally lie to customers.  Even if the plane was coming from Las Vegas to DFW to pick up the passengers going to Las Vegas on Flight 469, couldnt they have sent all the passenger an email or text saying the

flight was cancelled at 6:00 a.m. that morning instead of waiting for them to get to the gate.  No, sending their passengers to San Francisco was more important than those going to Las Vegas.

I would never recommend this company.

Note:  The Security Personnel at the gate at DFW said this happens every morning.  Flights cancelled and unhappy passengers.
