There are a lot of Sprint stores in Fort Worth, however, the 750 Alta Mere location will not accept cash payments without a $5 surcharge. The Camp Bowie store in Fort Worth has a kiosk, but the excess money put in goes against a future bill, you are unable to get any hard physical cash change. So when is cash not a legal form of tender for all debts in America?

It's still legal tender..

Cash is still legal tender.  You give them cash and they apply it toward your bill.  If it wasn't legal tender you couldn't use it to pay your bill.

Now, how they accept the cash payment is up to them.  If a company wants to be "cashless" it takes additional processing and labor to deal with the cash, as such they can charge you a fee for the additional handling.

As for the kiosk.  It still applies any overpayment to your next bill.   If you are that particular about not paying too much then you are the one who must go through the effort to break down your cash to pay an exact payment.  Perhaps having to do that is making that $5 looking pretty good...right?

If you have a problem with not getting change, then where is your RipOff report on just about every public transportation system in the US.  They have been requiring "exact change" for decades.   Oh but the difference between the Public Transportation and Sprint...Public Transporation doesn't give you credit toward your next ride.

There is another option..open up a real bank account and use a Debit Card.  Not only would it avoid this but many companies give a credit for setting up automatic payments.   If you don't (or can't) open up a real bank account then you have to accept the consquences of your choices.

No RipOff here...
