I purchased a wallaway sofa and loveseat from Levitz in December 2001 and was sold the extended warranty offered by Stainsafe. What a joke that turned out to be. I initiated a claim for a structural problem with my sofa July 25, 2003 and I was told that the manufacturer would have to resolve this problem because it was within one year of the purchase date.

Apparently math is not there strong point. I contacted them again in August 2003 and told them that it was in fact a year and a half past the date of purchase and should be covered by the extended warranty. They sent me an e-mail telling them that because it was now August and the problem happened in July, it was past the 5 day window that they allow and it would not be covered.

Please remember that I reported the problem in July 2003 when it occured, because they couldn't seem to grasp that.
We have tried numerous times to resolve this first issue, but have not been able to.

On September 5, 2003, we noticed a problem with the reclining mechanism on the same sofa and I immediately reported it by fax on the form they provided me. As of September 11, 2003, they had still not contacted me, so I faxed them again. I have not heard anything as of yet.
I am going to give them 5 more days and then I am going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online. If anyone else is having a problem with this company, I strongly suggest that you do the same. If that doesn't help, I am going to take legal action.

Stain Safe warranty denial
I am having the same problem with the company and I am trying to figure out how to get help in fixing the problem. I bought my dining room table from Homelife furniture on 10/26/00 and it was delivered on 11/16/00. Have had no problems with the table until September 15th 2003 when it received s few scratches. I called the number listed on my warranty paperwork 1-877-466-3631 and was given a recording to mail all the info to. In their recording it stated that to be patient and claims could take up to six months to be processed and I will receive confirmation in the future. I mailed it to them and waited for a response on October 28th I was given a web address for stainsafe from a friend. I went to their website and filed a claim by calling the customer service number. I also faxed the claim into as well to make sure they received it. I was told that a tec would be contacting me by November 10, 2003 to set up an appointment. I called into their call center on Nov 11th and was given a different story, stating since the damage was more than 5 days old now they will no longer repair it. I asked for a supervisor and they said none are available. I mailed out all the info to them the following day after the incident. Well within the time frame given. I feel that they are just out to steal your money and are not a good deal at all. In fact reading many other comments from people I see that I am not the only one ripped off by them. Please help.

Stainsafe is in violation of The Federal Warranty Law and you can file a complaint against them with The Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov or call 1-877-ftc-help(382-4357). I just wanted to share this info and I hope it helps.
