Over the weekend,my dog jumped on the couch and loveseat in our family room.I noticed that there was a stain on the furniture that was the result of this.It didn't look like that big of a deal,so I tried to take some upholstery cleaner to one VERY small (VERY SMALL) area, but it didn't want to immediately come out.My wife remembered that we had purchased a "warranty" from Wickes that was a seven year warranty against any stains that would not come out.We paid $109.98 in 2004,for this warranty.Something was supposed to have been sprayed on the couch and love seat to make stains easy to remove. Some sort of treatment.
I don't think anything was ever sprayed to treat the furniture, but thats another story.
I decided to call STAINSAFE and discuss these stains.I was asked all kinds of questions and I told my story. They came back with a claim number, and then said that the warranty was void, beacuse I used an unapproved cleaner.
I immediately was in shock with their answer,as the stain was NOT caused by the cleaner, and I only tried to use it in one SMALL (VERY SMALL) area. They became rude with me and said that there was NOTHING they could do!
They didn't offer to send a represenative out to the house or anything.I immediately felt that there was some sort of SCAM here, but it wasn't until I researched this company on the intenet that I realized the magnitude of the situation.Nearly 3000 BB complaints in just the last few years!!!
All very similiar stories to mine!!
The warranty is a SCAM,and I really don't think anything was ever put on the furniture to prevent stains either! Another SCAM!
And I'm even more disappointed in Wickes Furniture, for allowing a product such as this to be sold.I normally wouldn't get involved with something like this, but the salesperson at Wickes said it was the best $110 we could spend on protection of our furniture. He must have made some commission on the deal, too.
The bottom line is to NEVER fall for a furniture warranty such as this.STAINSAFE is a COMPLETE SCAM,and I don't understand how they are allowed to continously operate as a business!
TOTAL SCAM! Did I say SCAM???????
