Complaint Review: Standard Auto Engines Or Number One Auto And Truck Repair

We have discovered a business scam going on near Virginia Beach. We had ordered an auto engine from a place called STANDARD AUTO REPAIR and were promised the engine within 10 days. It did not show up so we called and were told it would be sent the next day. The next day we discovered the web site had closed and they no longer would respond to telephone calls.

We were informed finally that they had file for bankruptsy so we investigated that to find out they did not. We also discovered that the company had changed names several times and that the owners had changed; though those owners really only had different links to the company ie. the former owner is now the holding company owner who was the president who was the owner of a company in that location under a different name, etc. They keep telling people the have filed for bankruptsy where we find not formal evidence of that. This has continued to the current name NUMBER ONE AUTO & TRUCK REPAIR

From what I can determine is that they keep a name until they have either had to many claims for poor work or nondelivery then change to confuse the consumer
