I was rather reluctant to write these guys up because, depending on who is behind the counter when you come in, they have some AMAZINGLY talented techs working here.

Unfortunately, I feel I was ripped off and then they tried to rip me off  again as in THREE strikes and you are OUT of Luck guys--- apparently thinking I had NOT seen their ad on Spanish-language Television offering FREE DIAGNOSTIC for your laptop. Yeah, lots of us here in Texas speaking Spanish AND English AND many persons of Mexican descent do not look like the stereotype....

I bought a DELL Latitude laptop from  them represented to me as being used but in great shape. I took it home and found out it overheated and the only way I could keep it going was to put a cooling pad under it. Still didn't keep the bottom of the laptop from overheating and cracking. Yeah, Dell makes **** for laptops which I knew when I bought this but I had not idea it had a heating problem like this and no warranty when I reported it and NO exchange either. Something else I did not know was that this particular model of Latitude needs to have TWO BATTERIES and there was only one in it when I bought it. When I discovered this rip-off, I was offered a battery that would fit this now obsolete laptop model for $80. NO WAY.

So I still have it and I still use it but I can not afford the other battery --assuming I could find one that would fit it. Live and learn.

RIP OFF TWO AND THREE:  I wanted a desktop from them, I  bought a junker from them for about $150. I think it was a Sony and the screen and the keyboard and speakers and mouse are all supposed to be components so that it acts like an organic whole. Again, I find this out AFTER I take it home. It was weird that I could not get  onto my you.tube site and so I called them back and it turns out that they have taken the graphics card out of it but I could buy it for $100.F*** THAT! I went down to Discount Electronics and bought a $15 graphics card which I installed myself and it worked just fine until we lost the cable service.

There was an ad for STAR TECH PC on Spanish Television that said that they would check your laptop out FOR FREE OF CHARGE. I had another laptop that had gotten a virus program on it when I used the wireless connection downtown at the AUSTIN PUBLIC LIBRARY ( FAULK BRANCH)and had been completely erased but had great parts. I figured I would get the usual $50 I always did when I brought in my old laptops and gear for a trade in ---towards a repair because whatever the hell was bothering my laptop was not going to be repaired without a professional tech.

I dropped my laptop off with the erased laptop with the clear understanding that I was going to be trading the smaller laptop for $50  worth of repair work if my laptop needed it.And the diagnostic was going to be free of charge as advertised on TV. The tech looked like he had energed from another planet and told me that I was recycling the computer with the erased memory for free and it would be $100 to diagnose my laptop--NOT what they advertised on TV...I told him it would be two week sbefore I got the money to pay but I would be back.

I was back the next Friday and talked with a Spanish speaking tech this time who knew about the ad and he gave me back my laptop and told me he could not charge me because they had not touched it. That is when I realized that home boy was going to repair the erased laptop and "recycle" my other laptop, the one that still worked.

I let them keep my junker.

I took my laptop back and ran a diagnostic on it myself even though I had no instructions --these things tend to be self-explanatory.

I consider leaving the erased laptop as a GOING AWAY PRESENT because I will NEVER go back there again!

And if anyone still remembers the actor who played the Dell dudein the Dell computer commercials who got busted for having marijuana ( probably because these sorry Dell laptops drove him to the weed!)I think the same guy must have put this motherboard together whilest he was high....

Maybe these people DO specialize in putting together world-class GAMING SYSTEMS but I just wanted plain INTERNET access.
