Complaint Review: Starlight Camera & Video Accessoriesland

My girlfriend ordered a Canon Powershot75 camera from Starlight Camera & Video/Accessoriesland (operates under both names)as a Christmas present for me over the net.

Starlight called her and told her the camera didn't come with a memory card. She assumed that this was correct, but refused to purchase the card he pushed her to buy.

The salesman then told her that using Alkaline batteries (which come with the camera) would quickly damage it and convinced her to buy a $52.00 battery charger. She didn't discuss any of this with me as camera was a gift.

Camera arrived in an unsealed Canon box without the factory supplied compact memory card, the warranty information and the product registration card, but with the cheap-a*s Chinese charger.

I was surprised and disappointed at the omissions and the wildly inflated price of the charger.

I called Canon USA to verify that a memory card came with the camera from the factory. Canon informed that all PS75 cameras shipped with a 32 meg card, registration and warranty.

Called Starlight/Accessoriesland. Finally got the supposed owner who reluctantly gave me his name as Bob Silver? He immediately JUST LIED and SWORE to me that the camera did not come with a memory card. No explination of why the product registration and warranty card were missing.

No resolution was forthcoming, only the steadfast LIE that no memory card came from the factory.

I have filed a report to Canon USA. I am filing with BBB of NY. I will write to the Attorney General of NY.

Incredibly frustrating doing business with Starlight Camera/Accessoriesland. This kind of sham operation stinks up e-commerce. OBTW...the shipping by mail was $25.42.

BE WARNED about dealings with Accessoriesland.
