I too was swindled by Startup Essentials and Matt Calhun and Derek Anderson. It was all done on the computer and it was done fast. They had me sign off on this merchant agreement by initialing in little blanks. I did not even have time to read what I was initialing, how dump could I be as to believe that they were going to help me start a business with no money up front.
Was I surprised when I was contacted by A-1 Leasing LLC and was told that I was leasing this computer for 137.50/month for 48 months and that it would be automatically deducted from my checking account each month and that I could not cancel this equipment lease agreement.
I do not know how they got my checking account numbers, but I guess that I most of given it to them. I would like to express that these people are quite good at what they do. They can talk you right into anything. At least that is how I observe them.
I am still paying for this computer that I can not use and do not know how to contact this Bond Corporation that is taking it out of my checking account.
Now, I can not even get in touch with Startup Essentials the telephone number is no longer in service, and their website is not working either. I tried to contact them several times to let them know that I wanted out of the agreement , but it was all in vain. Never did reach anyone, the numbers that I have for them are no good.
I just hope that there is something that can be done to stop them from swindelling others.

I would like to update everyone on StartUp Essentials. I believe they are no longer in business. They have no website, no telephone numbers to reach them. But that still does not help us with A1 Leasing.
I want to let everyone know that I changed my checking account and they could no longer take money out. I waited and they contacted me after they could not get access to my account. This is what is going on now. They are going to sue me. They have a private investigator from United Investigations(out of Tuson, AZ) looking into my assets.
Also they have a collection agency( Stuart Allan Associates)(out of Tuson, AZ) calling me and trying to get me to borrow money from whoever and try to make settlement with them. I have refused to pay anymore money for this worthless laptop.
I have paid them 137.50 per month for the last 11 months and I think that is plenty to pay for a laptop that you can not even use. I will keep you informed of what is happening with this company. I really do not know what to expect and I really do not understand how they can get away with this scam. But we shall see what happens in the next few days.
I am going to contact Consumer Affairs Protection for the Consumer and see what I can do about this non-cancelable contract to A1 Leasing. Wish me luck.
