I too like many of you that have posted a report on here was conned into signing a 4 year contract by a high pressure slick salesman. I was contacted by a salesman from Chase and signed the contract on 3/14/06.

I told the salesman when he was trying to con me into the Startup Essentials Program that i could not afford paying the 133.99 a month for more than 4 or 5 months. He persisted that I would be making money within 4 months and shouldnt have a problem paying the 133.99 a month. He kept insisting that it was a great opportunity I shoudnt pass up.

He did the credit check and connected me with another man for an interview to see if I was right for the program. I was approved for the Startup Essential program after the interview and he would fax me the papers to sign. I didnt have a fax machine so he agreed to wait for me to drive to a local Pharmacy that has a fax service and call him back on my cell phone for instructions.

The salesman acted like he was verry pressed for time and didnt give me the time to read the contract. He instructed me where to sign and initial the contract and had me fax it back to him right away.

At the time I was all excited about the opportunity of owning my own home business after the sales pitch from this slick talking salesman, I signed and initialed the contract against my better judgement.

In my opinion these people prey on people like myself that are working at a low paying dead end job that would love to have the opportunity to better themselves.

When I received the lap top computer and the training materal it was not what the salesman told me i would be getting.

He told me that the laptop would have software for runing my home business. It was a cheap acer laptop with Windows XP Home Edition and no other software. The training materal was mostly pep talk and not much detail into starting a business.

After about five months of hard work I finaly got my website put together and on line. The only good thing i can say about Startup essentials is when you call for assistance their people are nice and helpful, but sometimes it was hard to contact them by phone. Most of the time i had to call in the morning to get in contact with them for assiatance. In the afternoon most of the time you couldnt get any assistance.

The pay per click advertising that you get did not put my website on the search engines like they promised. the only way i could get my website to come up on a search engine was to type in my website name.

My website was on line for 5 months and didnt sell anything at all, not one single sale. There was no way for me to get any advertising or anything to get my website to come up on search engines without spending money i didnt have.

The first week in February 2007 Iclosed my checking account and removed everything from my website. I had no choice in the matter, im out of money and in lots of debt with my credit card companys. There is no way i can afford to pay anymore.

I received a letter from A-1 Leasing informing me that my lease has been terminated. It was dated March 29, 2007.
the letter says i have to pay $5003.28 IMMEDIATELY or if I fail to do so final collections will commence. It also informed me to return the equipment leased to me (meaning the laptop computer) at my expence IMMEDIATELY.

I personally feel like Startup Essentials, A-1 Leasing and their other partners in crime have anal raped me and didnt even as much as give me a kiss!

I plan on contacting a lawyer, but i dont know if that will help me get out of this mess. I know my good credit will be ruined.

If anyone files a class action lawsuit against Startup Essentials and A-1 Leasing I want in on it. Someone please imform me if there is a class action lawsuit filed against those criminals.

Startup Essentials, A-1 Leasing update

#2Author of original report

Fri, April 13, 2007

I got an appointment with a lawyer 4/10/2007 for legal advice about the 4 year contract with A-1 Leasing.

The lawyer looked over the contract and said it is a legal binding contract. His advice was to ship back the laptop computer being that it is leased equipment and send a letter stating that im not going to pay them anymore money and state the reasons why.

he said most likely i will get threating letters and phone calls for a while and after a few months i wouldnt hear anything from them again. He also said that they would file a bad credit report against me witch would hurt my credit score for a while, but no perminate dammage to my credit.

He said the most they could do to me is file a lawsuit against me in the state of Texas, witch he said would cost them lots of money being that A-1 Leasing in the the state of Michigan. the lawyer told me that the laws in Michigan do not apply in the state of Texas and the lawsuit would have to be filed in Texas to take legal action against me.

From what i have figured out, about the only way a class action lawsuit could be filed against these companys is to file one against Startup Essentials for deceptive business praticies.
