Complaint Review: State Farm

State Farm Unfair Hiring Practices At State Farm El Paso Texas

State Farm recruiting office in El Paso, engages in unfair hiring practices. In particular for new postions at their office in Richardson, TX location. After passing the initial pre-tests, meeting or exceeding the qualifications for the job and going through a succesful phone interview, I was denied an opportunity to continue on with the process. It is highly suspect that the recruiting office is engaging in discriminatory practices against those nearing 40 yo. At the VERY least, the process is unfair due to the fact that only one recruiter is allowed to approve or deny and applicant the chance to continue on in the process without consulting with at least another individual. Highly suspect that personal feelings or discrimination is in play there.  All applicants should be aware of this and proceed cautiously before applying for a posiition at this company.

Was Eventually Hired

This is a rebuttal to the previous complaint. Although, I had to go through another hiring person than the previous one to get in,  I was eventually hired at this company and it turned out to be a really good opportunity. State Farm was and still is a great company to work for. This rebuttal is written by my own free will.

You actually are the one who is coming across as inept. The language used in my report was not a direct accusation anyway, it was 'highly suspect'. There is a fine line between that and officially accusing. Just mind your own business. Once again that is the beauty of this site, staying anonymous and voicing your experience to potentially help others.

It is a typical response of people who have nothing to defend to accuse someone who disagrees with them to "work for the company".  However, if you look around this site you will see how dumb that actually makes your comments look.

Unless you are maliciously making false claims (which is often hard to prove those anyway) which i am not, there are no real grounds to file suit.

- Perhaps you should go back and consult your "family".  Making accusations of Discrimiation if proven false CAN lead to not only civil but criminal liability in extreme cases.  Of course you are going to say that you are not making false claims..but that doesn't make it so.

Anyway, my goal was just to warn potential applicants against purusing employment here and know what is going on.

- Why should they not pursue employement here?  Just because you as a single individual THINKS that the only reason you didn't get the job is because of their age?

As to your remedy...

that only one recruiter is allowed to approve or deny and applicant the chance to continue on in the process without consulting with at least another individual

- So based on your logic if 2 people said no it is okay.  So let me as you this...how do you know that the two people would not discrimate against you because of your age?  So you say okay 3 people..again same question.  If you didn't get the job what proof do you have that all 3 didn't?...4 People..5 People..a Committee of 100, how about 1000?  Just something to think about.

Oh and by the way I do not and have not ever worked for this company.

Firstly, I am not a 'standard American. Secondly, it sounds like you work for this organization, otherwise why would you care? Thirdly, that is the beauty of a site like this, to sound off against companies and institutions, you feel have wronged you. There are no civil or criminal liability issues here, this is the equivalent of protesting in front a business. Furthermore it is anonymous and protected. I come from a family of attorneys, so dont go there. Unless you are maliciously making false claims (which is often hard to prove those anyway) which i am not, there are no real grounds to file suit. Again, this is a fantastic site full of people doing what I am doing and more. I believe for most part, they are justified. I feel I am. Anyway, my goal was just to warn potential applicants against purusing employment here and know what is going on.

Any proof??

Other then the fact that you did not get the job do you have any ACTUAL proof of discrimination? A lot of times the standard American adult refuses to either see the truth or believe it when presented to them. Just because you did not get a job doesnt mean they are discriminating against you. There may have been FAR more qualified applicants then you. Before you go blasting a business on the web theres two things to consider. The first is that the web is considered a MEDIA SOURCE. As such you can be held both criminally and civilly responsable for your post. Second, we are no longer the bright eyed consumers of 15 years ago. The web has taught us that ANYONE can post whatever drivvel they wish. You claim this conpany has discriminated against you but you offer no proof OTHER then you did not get the job. You will need proof of discrimination before you can go to your state labor board.
