The State Medical Board of Ohio is the worst Medical Board in the US because Ohio legislators haven't got a clue what is going on - that includes Tom Patton who has been there for 5 years now.  Everything is confidential - so he doesn't have to do anything about improving anything - he doesn't know anything - not even the breakdown of the costs at the State Medical Board of Ohio.

Ohio allows that women MDs have their licenses pulled - are disciplined - for objecting to the wrong care, done by uncertified physicians, on themselves.  Orthopedics have certifications and hip-and-knee orthopedics should not be doing hand fracture care without Hand Boards.  University Hospitals orthopedics not certified in Hand Surgery should not be handling complex hand fractures without the guy who has the Boards consulting.  And if you can't object to wrong care on yourself, you can't stop it being done to others - the conundrum of the woman MD who can't espouse the cause of improving care for women patients when she can't improve her own care in Ohio without losing her medical license.  Espouse = to take up and support as a cause.  And no one should have to go through this 'discipline' for 20 years because no one answers the phone at the State Medical Board in Columbus.

The word of the week at Mayfield Junior High is heuristic - experimentally-based methods.  If the 'confidential' physician complaint system is not working - problem solving needs to include the common sense that most 'educated' states use a non-confidential physician complaint system - so that the complainer's credentials are checked and the complainer is held accountable for verifiable information - not crap.  The State of Ohio can't be held accountable for information that they can't verify, but they can ruin physician lives for decades on this misinformation.

Orthopedic care in Ohio for women is a disaster.  Fractures are left uncasted to 'ripen,' and ER care is crap.  When the orthopedic casts they don't know the proper angulation, that cast padding is required, and they can't check the cast for neurovascular integrity - what is neurovascular integrity - well it's too much of a mouthful for Tom Patton.  What that means that there is a pulse, and that the nerves are not crushed and there is no tingling or numbness of the extremity.

When things don't work, the fractures are left to ripen to excrescence - to near loss of limb.  Then experimentally casted by orthopedics at University Hospitals.  But since the casts are not proven to work, they don't.  Experimental casts are only tried in Ohio - and why would that be? - because they don't work.

When the woman MD complains about the insanity, she is psychiatrically evaluated 5x that she said something to try to improve things - and if no one says anything - nothing will ever improve.  Certainly Ohio legislators are not going to improve orthopedic care in Ohio.  Tom Patton wouldn't fracture anything - too much padding, too unathletic, and bones of cement.

No MD should lose a medical license in Ohio over reporting admittedly BAD CARE, or be psychiatrically evaluated until they won't talk about the bad care.  The State Medical Board needs to address the problem of standards of care in Ohio.   But then they need an Executive Director with a brain.
