I originally signed up with State Utilities in August of 2005 for home heating oil At the time of the contract signing my father was there to ask any questions that I may not know to ask since this is my first home.

We specifically asked the sales rep in the event we need or want to cancel the service contract would there be a PENALTY? He emphasized NO a couple of times. Since the answer was no we agreed to sign the service contract for 5 years.

This brings me to the present I called to cancel all services with State Utilities I was immediately informed that I would have to pay over $2500 in cancellation fees due to ending my contract early..When trying to explain to the manager Jim that my sales person has stated on two occasions (in august of 2005 and January 2007) that there is absolutely no cancellation fee he did not even want to talk to me and immediately passed me on to the owner Ray Young.

I tried explaining the issue to Ray Young and all he kept saying was that I am responsible to fulfill my contract. I tried numerous times to explain that his sales person specifically stated on a couple of occasions that there is no cancellation fee at all. He did not care and hung up on me 3 times. I called back one more time to try and settle the issue Again he still did not care. I then said I am contacting the BBB He said, go ahead and hung up.
