I purchased a "Claude Monet Water Lilies Scarf" from Stauer on 11/25/12 for my mom for Christmas.  The item cost: $79.00 + there was a charge of $19.95 for (shipping & Insurance) for a total order of $98.95.

Upon receipt of said item it did not match my mom's coat as well as I had thought judging from catalog pictures only.  I completed the included Return/Exchange form accordingly.  It should be noted that Stauer provides a 30-day exchange or return privilege.  Stauer also includes a pre-paid USPS shipping label for a charge of $8.00.

I re-packed the item just as it was received in original condition, in original packaging, complete including all documentation (warranties, instruction manuals, accessories, etc.) in saleable condition. 

Buyer beware that Stauer does NOT refund the $19.95 for shipping & insurance.   I'm sure that if I knew that Stauer would be keeping $19.95 for absolutely no reason upfront I would have never ordered from them in the first place.  I received a credit on my charge card in the amount of $71.00.  This return in perfect condition cost me a total $27.95.

It is nice to know when you bring dissatisfaction to the attention of an on-line retailer it sometimes pays off.

On 12/17/12 after threatening Stauer that I would never do business with them again, etc.  Asked to be removed from their mailing list, etc.  Stauer Customer Service did indeed reimburse me for the initial shipping & insurance charge in the amount of $19.95.  They did include a comment with the refund which states and I quote "We are always willing to work with you with in reason.

"

Based on this statement I think if I ever return an item there will not be any questions asked when & if they ever attempt to pull this return merchandise. scam. 

In summary I recd my refund with a minimal amount of effort.  It should be noted that if a business practice seems unfair it should be challenged.
