Dear Jimmy,

I am returning your plans as they are not what was represented to me and I am rescinding my order and our agreement.

On or about 11/16/2007 I was promised by Jonathan Richardson that I would receive the complete plans no later than 72 hours after a payment of $552.08. I was also promised by Jonathan Richardson that I would receive the materials no later than Dec. 20th, 2007.

*On 12/10/2007, I spoke with Georgette and paid the balance owed on the 2-car carport.
*The complete plans (including the required Engineering Calculations) were not received until 12/14/2007.
*On 12/14/2007, I verbally rescinded our agreement to both you and Georgette after learning that this carport does not comply with City of Los Angeles Building and Safety and that it would require additional engineering, geological testing and new plans from the manufacturer all at an additional cost to me that was not disclosed at the time of purchase.

I am sending you the plans via FedEx and have already filed complaints with my bank citing the misrepresentation on your part. My bank is in agreement with me as is the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation for the State of Virginia and the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Affairs for the State of Virginia where additional grievances will soon be filed. I am additional pursuing criminal action against your company and you personally with the Commonwealth of Virginia State Attorneys Office.

I am demanding a complete and total refund of all monies and will be seeking damages civilly for the delay you have cost to my construction project.
Feel free to have your attorney contact me directly with any offers of settlement.

!!!BUYER BEWARE!!!

These are quonset style buildings. Many counties across the U.S., and most home owner's associations will not allow you to erect this type of building on your property.

Be VERY certain that you will be allowed to erect one of these buildings BEFORE giving this company any money or signing their contract because they will not give you a dime of it back.

Since losing nearly $3,500 of my money this way, I've read other reviews online from others who have also lost money.

Yes. I signed a contract that said that the downpayment was not refundable. I am at fault for my own stupid decision.

Just don't let yourself be pressured into signing a contract to "lock in your price" before you have authorization in hand to erect the building, because this company will afford you no sympathy and will cut you no slack.

I am shocked at Andrews letter

As an ex-employee of SteelMaster Buildings I was shocked to find this letter from Andrew regarding both Mr. Pankiewicz and SteelMaster Buildings. I saw first hand that Mr. Pankiewicz is far from a loser and goes above and beyond to make sure SteelMaster's customers are satisfied.

I would certainly disagree with the statements towards Mr. Pankiewicz and towards SteelMaster Buildings and highly recommend them to anyone who not only needs a good quality building but who wants the most superb customer service you will ever find.

From what I witnessed, SteelMaster gives the customer support they want from others and their relationship with their customer's does not end the second you purchase a building it begins.

SteelMaster will not do you wrong, so if you need a good quality building, great customer service or even a wonderful place to work then SteelMaster is the place for you!

We understand your frustration that you were not able to permit your SteelMaster carport. As we do with each of our structures, we ensured that your building met the engineering standards for Los Angeles County. However, the soil condition of your building site is beyond our area of influence and is the responsibility of the customer per the contract you authorized upon purchase. Since it was the soil condition that caused your permit to be rejected and not the structure itself, SteelMaster is not at fault. Ultimately, we are disappointed that we were not able to provide you the product you sought after. We appreciate the return of the carport plans and wish you well with your building project.

SteelMaster Buildings has over 40,000 satisfied customers across the globe. We strive for customer satisfaction and excellence with every building we sell and we are disappointed in the outcome of this situation. However, we believe that your comments are unwarranted and unfair toward our company and Mr. Pankiewicz in particular, as it was the condition of your building site that caused your permitting issues. In addition, you received 100% of your money back although SteelMaster incurred unrecoverable processing and engineering costs.

It is unreasonable to think that we treat our customers in the manner in which you described. If we did, we would not have been in business for the past 26 years and have a lengthy list of satisfied customers.
