I brought my 2 kittens to get neutered to Steinbach Veterinary Hospital on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 8:30am.  I explained to the office staff that I am on a VERY limited funds and we spent the next 20 minutes going over all the difference fees.

They told me the surgery will cost $50 per cat.  They offered me some other services which I declined and signed paperwork stating that.  I did opt for pain medicine for the kittens to take home.  They quoted me $20 per cat for pain medicine.  So I was quoted $140 plus taxes for services and I left my debit card/credit card number for the office to use when surgery was over.

My mom picked up the kittens along with the paid receipt and when she showed me, I was shocked.  I paid $172.50.  I looked at the itemized bill.  The surgery cost $50 per cat ($100), pain meds $20 ($40).  So far that is what I expected.  Then I see 2 - $20 anesthesia fees and a hazardous waste disposal fee of $2.50.

I called the office right away and explained to Casey how I went over the billing with the staff that morning and how this is the first I am hearing of this $20 per cat for anesthesia.  They told me $50 per cat for surgery and since they never mentioned the anesthesia fee, I was led to believe it was included in the surgery price.  Casey couldn't help me and put me through to Alex's voicemail.  I left a message for him to contact me.

On Monday, November 2nd, 2015, I received a call from Alex and explained the situation to him.  He was not rude but did not even apologize for the confusion.  Obviously he didn't try to correct the problem in any way.
