I saw this car online at craigslist.com here is the link. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/car/470618567.html. I went on November 6th 2007 to look at the car. I liked the car and put a $500 down payment to hold the car till I got the rest of the down payment. So Mr. Stephe Ponce told me to come back on friday November 9th 2007 and the car will have the smog done and currents plates and tags on the car. I thought that was resonable, so I agreed.

So it is November 9th 2007 I show up at Mr. Richard Harris's house with one of my Marine friends. We then follow Mr. Harris to Mr. Ponce's House. I looked over the car agian. Everything seemed to be fine. But I notice that the car did not have no lisence plates or tags of any sort. Which he told me it would of had.

Mr. Ponce says the paper work is on its way, come back on tuesday November 13 2007 and Mr. Harris would have the smog and registration papers all done for me. All that was on the car was a smog extention paper from the dmv. That is it. So technically I cant drive the car, no registration papers. But I did put insurance on the car that day.

So I agreed to come back on the 13th of November. Mr. Ponce give me another receipt for $500. So in total I already gave Mr. Stephe Ponce $1000 of my money. He gives me the car key. I begin to drive the home. Half way home already, I look at the milage on the car and it has not changed at all. ILLEGAL.

So I pulled over on the next exit which was TEXAS STREET right off the 8East. I called Mr. Harris and Mr. Ponce. No answer. So I turn around and begin to drive back. I receive a call from Mr. Harris asking me what is wrong. I begin to tell him that the odometer on the car is not working and I am on my way back to see what is going on here.

I head back to Mr. Harris's house were again I follow him to Mr. Ponce's house. They begin to tell me that they can fix it, no problem. Just to bring it back on tuesday and they will take it to the shop. I tell them no, because technically I dont know how long they have been driving this car and the milage has not been clocking. I also tell them that it is ILLEGAL to try and sell a car with a bad odometer.

They gave me my $1000 back, and I gave them the key. I bought a carfax report the night prior and the last odomoter reading was 193,193 on 05/22/2006, which is exactly what the car had when I drove off with and returned the car with to MR. Ponce and I know I at least drove 20 miles and no change to the Odometer.

These guy are trying to sell and illegal car to innocent people. Not on my watch. They own a finance and motorcycle company called MOTORCYLE CITY also. So who know how many people they have scamed with there little in house financing and leasing. Please stop these people and put them behind bars. These guys had a cadillac and jaguar in the driveway. A RARE porshe in his garage and another porche in front of his house. With another volvo next to it not to include this Mercedes Benz 500SEC. Please Help.

What's the Problem?

So the car odometer didn't work. You caught the problem and returned the car and they gave you the $1000 back. What's the problem AS IT AFFECTED YOU PERSONALLY? Sounds like a done deal to me. You were dissatisfied, returned the car, and got your money back. Did you check the other cars to ensure that their odometers worked? Were the other cars for sale? They also offered to fix the odometer. I don't know what the problem is. It sounds like the sellers were pretty fair. Rip off Reports are full of complaints where cars fell apart on the way home and dealers offered nothing in response. They wouldn't buy the car back, return a deposit, or fix the car.
