Stephen Smith Asked me to work at home and recieve checks, cash them, keep comission and then forward remaining amount. Nothing really matches up. Check coming from a real companu, but no letterhead on note included. Called the # to comapany left in email, in UK, didn't know anything about this man or job description. Bank ph# on check is not to that bank. Return address on envelope doesn't match anything. United Kingdom, Internet
I recieved an email from Kelvin Stephen Smith asking me if I was interested in a job, i replied with info, nothing was securty issue like social or bank account, so i figured i would check it out. The job description was, recieve checks, cash, retain commision and send remaining amount on to an account that would be given to me. I recieved check without much information and the information I do have doesn't match up. There was no letter head included with check, just contact information for company sending the check, Grant Prideco, in Houston. I called the company that was listed in the origional email, in the UK, and they didn't know of this person or this job description. The return address is from a women in Wichita KS. The part of the envelope the post office prints over, forgot wordage for that, was for Canada. Anyways it's so obviously a scam. I did call the Bank that was listed on the check and it did not state the bank name. I looked up the bank online, very popular well known bank, and they confirmed there was an account with that company name. She also said not to long ago a women called that had cashed the check. Of course the check had a stop payment and she was then responsible for paying full amount of check back.
total scam, please, why would anyone, company or individual need a middle man to cash checks.
