I signed up with Regis - now Stetson called Stetson Legal Group, 575 Anton Blvd., 3rd Fl., Costa Mesa Fl.  92626.  The person on the website is listed as Parisa Fishback, but the associates at Stetson will not tell me who the CEO of Stetson is.

I had a debt of around $25,000 when I started their program, they promised to reduce it and to have me have $387 withdrawn monthly from my checking account for a period of five years.  They also had me kick in an additional $200 a month for a portion of that duration.  I was at times paying them $600 a month and it was a terrible struggle.  They advised me to keep it up and on time to build up the escrow so they could settle quickly. I have now paid to them over $24,000.

About a year ago I noticed a red alert on my credit report for a lending company.  I contacted Stetson and they assured me all would be taken care of as my contract was ending less than a year.  I called them last month as I only have three months left on the program.  They said, they could not settle the debt and stated that I have to take back $13,000 or stay with their program  for three more years at $387 a month.  I was shown a spread sheet and realized they were inflating all their fees so as not to have enough funds to settle my accounts.  They gave me three options.  Leave their program and take back $13,000, stay with them for three more years at $387 a month, (and I'm sure for those extra three years they would inflate all their fees) or declare bankruptcy.

This is after I strugged for five years paying them and paying them extra as well.  They do not care about their customers.  They put me in a terrible financial position as I used all my savings to keep the payments on time.    I  now have a compromised credit score.  I am now retired with limited income.  They have made my health suffer.  They seem angry and hostile when I speak to them as if it is me who did wrong.   I still have to pay them the next three months before this program ends.   They still have three unsettled debts not settleed and are threatening to only settle one small one as I complained to them how they were unfair and unethical.

They are getting away with taking more than $13,000 from me.

Settlement Company Not Paying Debt - Overcharging fees and not settling debt after program ended.

#2Author of original report

This settlement company had me pay the whole balance of my debt to them over a five year period.  I made sure to never be late or miss a payment.

After the five year period ended and I paid them the whole debt back they said I still owed half of that debt, in other words 50% more of the original debt.

They stated that at the end of my contract they could not settle my debts and were rather intimating and hostile and stated that I had to take back half of that debt.

I had already paid them the whole debt over that five year period.

They stated I did not enough money in the account. It was escrowed over that five year period and taken out of my checking account by a RAM draft.  They had all my money in their bank accounts. They inflated all their fees, retainer fees, admin. fees, legal fees, etc. They would only apply a fourth of my payment to the balance and the rest for their made up fees. Their fees exceeded my payments to the point they were not settling my debts and stating to the creditors that I had insuffient funds, when I really paid the full balance.

This was a settlement company that promised to reduce debt and waive the interest, and get your debt settled fast.

They only settled the smaller debts and left the other larger debts hanging right up to the end of the contract, the whole time adding their own inflated fees.  Then stating not enough money.

They also said the other options beside taking the debt back was to stay with them making those payments three more years of declaring bankruptcy.
