Jan 27,2013 I purchased a beautiful Wheaten" Bella" from the puppy store in St Charles, my goal was to raise this hypo allergenic dog to become a Certified Therapy dog for Delnor Hospital. Being a Registered Nurse and Certified Dog Trainer with ABC I felt so positive this would bring great joy to the sick! Soon after taking the pup home we were at the vet with Giardia, multiple bladder infections and sublaxation of the knee caps, I reported this to Perfect pup which they dismissed as normal and gave me more meds for the giardia. I had trained this little one to accomplish the CGC and was ready for her acceptance to a therapy school. We used Perfect Pup to board her and found that she would come home with sores on her belly, back to the vet, she had Staph and MRSA, 3 months of quarintine, then at 18mos old she collapsed on the ground, rushed her to the vet, blood work reveiled dangeously high Liver ALT levels, requiring a liver BX the next day. She was so toxic that her brain could not remember anything I had trained her. she couldnt do stairs, or coordinate her walking. The Liver BX diagnosis found LIVER CONGESTION WITH MICROVASCULAR REDUPLICATION  many portal tracts CONGENITAL DESEASE her prognosis was poor, the Vet teared up when telling me. Due to her disease she was disqualified for therapy service, however I decided to give her the BEST life possible, I retrained her, she was amazing, new Liver Diet Food, Medications through out the day, exercise, and lots of love kept her going. The vet bills were over $12,224.00 and were not covered under insurance due to being Congenital! The Vet explained this could have been avoided with the proper testing of the Sire and Dam.

I immediately went to the pup store told the owner, that I'm reporting Steve to AKC, the Owner Cris said"oh no I'll take care of that and I'll reinburse you for half of the BX costs." I question whether he ever reported Steven?? As the months turned to years Bella was getting sick more frequently and unable to recovery with medications due to the liver dying. She was born on Nov 16, 2012 and died July 15, 2018 way to short of a life, while she never was able to be that beautiful therapy dog  for people, she was given a gift from God to be a calming therapy dog for other Dogs, she socialized dogs with fears, puppies, and anxious dogs to calm down. My neighbors, friends, and church, miss her happy blubby personality and she will be remembered always. Please know that I'm writing this today, so that Bella's story can make a difference for all the poor dogs coming out of PUPPY MILLS and PET STORES. Please share Bella's story, lets make CHANGE and shut them down!
