Stevens Van Lines/Slidell Moving and Storage, used by the Military to move move Military families will smile to your face and destroy your belongings, take what they desire, and do everything possible to avoid any payment. They are known for being one of the worst Military Moving Companies for years. If your items go into storage, watch out. It's a free shopping event for them.
They will not return phone calls. Family business. They are hooked up with each other, a cousin does this, the Mother does that, the son something else.
They will do nothing for you, except hide.

We are advising any member of the Military that has been unjustly treated by this company to contact your local Senators and Congress People, as they are advocates of the Military in New Orleans and will assist you.

This company needs to lose all Military contracts. The Military moving office should not even be offering them as a possibility. The Military needs to stand as one and say NOT one member of our "family" is going to be treated this way by someone the Government is paying. Take them off your list. Get rid of them. Let them make their living some other way besides destroying Military families lives and belongings. They know no shame.

They destroyed our belongings, they took what they could, and the damaged both homes, the one we moved out of and the one we moved into. They will not return calls, they just ignore you. They have their money. But a reputation? Give them the one they deserve. They have earned it.

Do not use this company, don't fall for their line, in the end, they will put the SCREWS to you and do nothing about it. You will end up in court.
I speak from experience. I speak for the E-3 that had every thing stolen for his new baby. No crib,no car seat, everything taken from his wife's shower and gifts from her family and friends. They were new in boxes and prime target for this group. I speak for others that have had their entire shipment i(in storage) torn through and every piece of electronic equipment, down to a radio, stolen. I speak for a Military family that lost nearly everything they owned, they destroyed and stole every thing they could. I speak for the family that had $89,000 worth of property destroyed by fire. The Michigan home office offered them $3000.00. I speak for a family that had over $60,000 worth of damage and not so much as a call from these people. I ask you as members of the Military to step up and say, "NO." We know their history. No way will we allow them to handle our shipment. Write or call your Congressman. You don't have to take this.

To all members of the military, pass this around to everyone in your Command. Spread the word. Turn down this company if your inbound or outbound office mentions their very name. You will be doing yourself a huge favor in the long run.

They are rude, non responsive, only perk up when $$$$$ time to get paid.
A very sad, pathetic group of folks. BEWARE.

Group together, get them off the list for Military moves. Hurt them where they seem to only feel, in the pocket.

First the military member will not even sign his real name, now who is Josh ?? not a employee of Slidell Moving !!! is this a disgruntled employee of Stevens Van Lines?? WOW !! it is amazing anybody can go on this site and say anything about any company without any proof or facts. this is amazing. It appears I am the only one willing to give out true facts and my real name, email and phone number.

The OP of this topic is right on the money. I worked at this place for 5 years and I saw things that you would never believe unless you witnessed them firsthand.

-Employees breaking things on purpose
-employees doing lines of cocaine off of clients' dressers
-employees who refused to go to military bases because they had outstanding arrest warrants.
-employees drinking on the job
-truck drivers partying until 3 am and coming to work at 7 am, jumping right into a semi and going to a jobsite
-stealing valuables was a daily occurrence

keep in mind, I actually WITNESSED the crew leaders tell the crew that "this move is military" so that it was ok to damage things. the majority of the people that work here are otherwise unemployable, i.e; ex-cons, felons, heavy drug users, alcoholics, and so on. for most people, there is no job application-just give 'em your name, SSN, and address for your check stub. every day at this job was a soap opera full of drama, and if you didn't fit in with their clique, you were gone (like me)

I reccomend that everyone stay away from this company, but if not, READ THE FINE PRINT. the standard insurance is a joke. it covers items by paying you around 30 cents per POUND. thats right-per pound. a piece of waterford crystal stemware get broke, you get 50 cents.

We are a excellent company with a excellent reputation

#7REBUTTAL Owner of company

Thu, February 26, 2009

My name is Roger Fisk I am the owner of Slidell Moving. We are a independent agent for Stevens Van Lines. I am a second generation mover and my two sons who both work for me are third generation. Their mom also works as our office manager. The report that "Mike" wrote is totally false. We have a great reputation with the BBB who already addressed this issue with this customer and found no merit. We perform over a 1000 moves ayear with very very little customer dissatifaction. We have never in our 30 years of business had a van fire much less have had total loss of a customers shipment. This move was a move with alot of issues that took place doing the process of the move and these issues were all brought on by the customer. Our original orders were for a local move with the military then after packing and doing the loading the customer changed the delivery to a residence, when we got out to del on the 2nd day with the 2nd truck we found out his house was banned from mold and mildew, we could not go in and move or do anything with the items already delivered. We took what was on the 2nd truck and wrote a new inventory of what we still had in our possesion, we did request the customer to accompany us while we were doing this and they declined. A couple weeks later we were contacted to pickup the items that were banned in the house with mold and mildew but this that at the customers expense as the military would not pay for any more local work, so we moved the articles into the customers mini storage. The items the customer is claiming were damaged and missing were in his storage which we had no control over. The military contacted us as well as the customer to do his final move to TN. This is where Stevens Van Lines came into the picture, because of short notice we could not accomidate his move on one of our trucks so we had our Van Lines haul it to TN. This is common practice in the moving industry. Stevens Van Lines has made a settlement offer to this customer for items damaged doin the moving process. Again we are a excellent company with a excellent reputation who has been in business over 30 years and now 3 generations strong. Anyone who would like to do research further on this please check with the BBB, local military base, local customers were deal with as we do have a excellent reputation in the moving industry. After being in business all of my life I do relize no matter how hard you try to satisfy a customer from time to time you will have a customer such as this that no matter what you do will never be happy.
