Stockton Hyundai Joey Gonzales Did not honor online price and refused to sell to out of state buyers Stockton California
This is probably the weirdest experience I have ever had trying to buy a new car. The 2015 Sonata SE we wanted was priced at about 17K online(for about a week), but when we called to say we wanted to buy it, the manager (Joey) said they had priced it in error and not to bother to come. We were coming from Reno, so they would change the price before we could get there.
The weird part is that this sales manager told us not to bother to drive down, that they did not want to sell us this car, or for that matter, any other. He did not offer other cars as alternatives and did not even seem interested in seeing if we wanted the car at the corrected price. He went on to say we should be buying locally, anyway.
Wowee. I have never had a car dealership actively discourage me from buying a car and insist that it is better for us to buy a car somewhere else (like in Reno).
As it so happens, the type of car we want (PZEV) is very hard to find in our state, unlike in California, which is why we were headed there in the first place.
It is a mystery as to how these folks stay in business with that attitude. I can promise you that their competitors will not be refusing to honor listed prices and making us feel unwelcome, and we will be buying a new Sonata from one of them this week for sure.
