Complaint Review: Stone Gate Consultants Inc. / A.O. Reed & Co. / North American Sweepstakes

I received a letter in the mail stating that I was one of the declared winner of North American Sweepstake, held on June 28th, 2008. They said they have tried several times to contact me, but unsuccessful. The said I have won $100,000 US dollars. Along with this letter was a check for $4,900.00. It said that I was to pay Government Taxes for these winnings. They said I had to pay $3,900.00, and to send this MoneyGram or Western Union. After the winning is processed it said I would receive the final check of $95,100.00 per UPS. It said please do not attempt to use this check until you call Mr. Ray King 1-905-598-4710 (Claim Agent)

We called this claim agent and asked him what drawing were we in. He asked if we have shopped at one of these stores Wal-mart, Jcpenny, Home Depot in the last six months then we were automatically entered in this drawing????? He told us to cash the check and then call him so he can tell us where to send the Government Taxes.

At the bottom of the letter Mrs Trudy Edwards is the Promotion Manager

This is such a rip off. I hope something happens to these people.
