On November 10, 2004, in Indianapolis, IN at the Holiday Select at the Airport, I attended the Internet Cash Flow Workshop presented by StoresOnline. The attendance at the workshop had been result of a prior 90-minute briefing that I had attended during which I had been promised that I would have access to a wonderful reverse search engine and that I would be able to taught Internet marketing techniques.

Buyer Beware

What approximately 90 others and I received was a high pressure and very slick sales presentation. There was no personal access to this reverse search engine of theirs, there was however, access to it through a bleached blond, very sexy, who had a wonderful way of crossing and un-crossing her legs.

While the marketing ideas were interesting, they were nothing that I had not learned or read about from articles and books available from my local library, bookstore or through online research (mostly free).

My warning lights started going off when they asked for my Social security number, date of birth and just about every other type of personal financial data on a sheet titled Confidential which I chose not to fill out. I still am not sure why StoresOnline needed to know if I own a house and my annual income to teach marketing techniques.

During lunch, these Confidential sheets were laid out very nicely along a table as the staff entered the data conducting credit checks. I watched with interest as several credit reports were reviewed, names were checked and selected staff were then tasked to provide the consultation.

I found if of interest that all of the females were approached by a gentleman with a nice accent (New Zealand) and Miss Blond approached the males in attendance. Since I did not fill out the questionnaire, I was not approached until I was one of the last 10 or so that had stayed and had not already laid down $3891.00 for three (3) websites, a credit card interface and an account with Links4Trade.

When my turn in the barrel came, Miss Blond immediately went into a high-pressure sales pitch, didn't I want to save money for my family? Did I have something against making money? This was the ONLY time that I would be invited to a workshop and obviously I could not afford to pass this opportunity.

The loan of $3891.00 that they were pushing VERY HARD was at a rate approaching 21% APR and I only had to put down $200.00 to take this opportunity home with me. When asked how well her personal websites were doing I was told extremely well, however, she could not remember the names of her websites or what she sold as it had been set up by others for her.

When I asked somewhat simple technical questions such as: monthly down time for the site or web servers; bandwidth utilization; what additional charges were there for overages in bandwidth; what type of service level agreements were in place, etc. Miss Blond crossed and uncrossed her legs with a wonderful view and kept insisting that this was the best source of income on the web. When I refused to bite, she became just a little agitated, thanked me for attending and went off after a nicely dressed gray-haired gentleman.

What I got from the workshop of 8 hours no hands-on of any type in direct contradiction to the 90-minute briefing; a nice view; a nice lunch and a $39.00 valued carry-case.

Opinion: StoresOnline is a fast moving; hard selling operation that targets older, technically and economically challenged populations. Based on the sales that I observed, I must say that they do it very well. Of the 90 or so in the workshop, I would estimate that less than 15 were below 40 with the remainder well into the 40's or much older. I also found it of interest that during the presentation which is reportedly taped, numerous times it was mentioned that the values shown may not be typical and your results may vary, etc. It seems that in the non-recorded, one on one consultation, your chances of success seem to multiply substantially.

The product sold is a kit with a CD, three to six websites (if you buy 6 you get 2 CDs (?), an account with Links4Trade, a credit card interface, a promise for support (which was not evident at the workshop) and an image of impending wealth.

Buyer Beware!

I RIPPED THEM OFF HAD BREAKFAST LUNCH & LEFT

#4Consumer Comment

Fri, December 03, 2004

Today I went to a top class hotel had breakfast & lunch and left, the talk that was held for this company could all have been said in less than one hour, yet they do try to wear you down and get you to sign your life away before lunch when you are no wiser than you were from the previous 3 hour information lunch of the previous week, I feel so much better that I was the one that did the ripping off, I came home got on the internet and found the reverse search engine free of charge, exactly the one they had on there advertising saying all this came with the package for $6000.00. It may take a little longer to set up but for $6000.00 I will have a go at it myself, enough information was derived so that it was useful and cost nothing more than $25.00 per head, which in the hotel that we were in would have cost more than that for breakfast alone.

I just finished reading, and posting, on the usight page. All the people over there lost money.

You guys are the winners. Great! Way to freakin' go!

Pete, you already know exactly what I told the others. That is to buy a book or go to the library. I never heard of usight before. But, I had a feeling they were using whores. Great instincts there, buddy!

Same with you, Mike! You blew off the stinky s**t and headed on home. Excellent, dude! Smart, very smart.

It turns out this usight is a major player. Google them and see for yourself. They're everywhere.

Glad to see there are some people with sense left! Nice of you guys to come here and warn others. Outstanding!

Best of luck to you both!

The StoresOnline Subliminal MindF**K game.

#4REBUTTAL Individual responds

Sun, November 21, 2004

I attended a StoresOnline Internet Cashflow Marketing workshop on 11/20/04 in Modesto, CA at the Doubletree Inn after also attending the 90 minute seminar in Stockton, CA a few weeks prior. I am a web designer and e-commerce developer, and have worked in the industry for almost 5 years now. I was interested in the workshop for the internet marketing and sales information.

I am so thankful I had the IT knowledge and background going into this workshop. I was probably the only person out of the 200 attendees who could actually understand the concepts and technology they were pitching. This left my mind clear to concentrate solely on the sales pitch and what they are actually offering. This saved me from making a huge financial mistake in investing in this information which is pretty much "FREE" on the internet anyway.

I have to agree with Pete in the way the young and attractive sales force flirts with the potential "MERCHANTS" or "PARTNERS" as they called the attendees. Before my consultation with the very attractive porn-star like looks and dress of the blond "Joann", I bailed on the last break and left. What type of business consultant is dressed in a tight fitted pant-suit and wearing five inch gold hoop earrings? I was looking forward to the show with her but I was pretty tired and just wanted to relax at home.

The bottom line is this. StoresOnline is trying to sell otherwise free information or information that is freely available at your local bookstore, to unsuspecting average non-technical or non-internet saavy people who are trying to supplement or make an income. They use all of the text-book subliminal mind-f**k techniques used by skilled interogators such as, information overload, lack of breaks to wear you down, sexuality, the carrot on the string technique, fear, hope, and most of all, trying to use the ones we love most in their favor, by saying, "you would do this for your family right?"

If you are contacted by any affiliation with StoresOnline or IMergent, RUN AWAY as fast as you can!
