Similar to Brian's experience...seriously outdated contracts and school districts who had no idea what I was talking about. The best part in some cases was the fact that the contract the school had wasn't even with "Student Relations" but with "Students of America;" another Ripoff Report red flag run by our good ol' friends. I had one merchant who still had a copy of not only their receipt from Students of America, but a previous version of a school folder which another salesperson had left with them several years before. Not surprisingly, it was IDENTICAL in every way to one of the samples I had with me. Nothing like setting me up to look not only like an a*****e but a con artist on top of it. I heard from them as well as several other merchants in the same town that none of them had ever received copies of the new folders in the past, and one merchant even had a kid who WENT to the school who never saw these folders in the school...period. And in the face of all of this righteous skepticism from merchants, just like everyone else I was told to just keep on selling. Unfortunately for the "company," I had a conscience. Got out of that deal as quickly as I could and never saw a cent for it. At that point I didn't care though, it was better than being associated with scam artists.

#11UPDATE EX-employee responds

Thu, June 19, 2008

This is being posted for reason and one reason only....to warn other people. Everything I said was from direct and personal experience. I posted in my name only and looked what happened. More people decided to speak up. Well mission accomplished. Of all the "crap" I had to go through to get paid was ridiculous. After I quit, you and everyone esle in your company avoided my calls, gave me the runaround and then Louis with his pathetic crank calls. By the way this very compaint was posted by several other people and the context was pitiful, tastless and criminal.

If you are in a "growth" business you should not have the turnaround you are having in the field. I was just sick of trying to answer the merchants questions "when are the folders coming out" Never got a straight answer to relay from SRI. I hope this is a wakeup call and these postings from everyone else will stop.

#11REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, June 18, 2008

Clearly, the information you have and the information we have regarding the substance of these posts is different. I, personally, have been in this industry - though not an owner of a company - for many years. With companies of many sizes and diversity over the years. SRI (We) simply do not make it a practice to 'rip off' our Independent Distributors or Account Managers as you stated on several posts on this site. We are in a growth industry. Meaning that a company like ours only succeeds through growth. We grow by recruiting qualified people to go out and perform the responsibilities of the position they are hired for.

It seems as though you have a tarnished relationship with one of SRI's consultants - keyword being consultant. If the relationship you had with Lewis Victor went bad - for whatever reason - that is regrettable. I remember having a pretty good rapport with you and thought we got along fine. You were a contributor while you were here. I respect that in every way. But, I've not ever said a foul word to or about you since your departure from our firm. I wished you and your family good luck. We have not verbally communicated since then.

Quite frankly, it did at first blush, and still does today seem like one person with various aliases attacking the company and myself - personally. I don't think you exercised good judgment making some of the statements you posted here. Most were inaccurate, some did not make any sense and since most of these posts originated within a two to three week period - hence the reason we wrote this off as you wanting to do nothing but hurt our company using different aliases - which is legal on this site.

All of the products you sold advertising on have been designed and delivered to the schools and all of the merchants received their samples also - just like all of our customers. After reading some of the stuff you posted here - I even hired someone whose sole responsibility was to contact the merchants you sold and the schools you represented and nary a problem. We did our part and fulfilled our responsibility to all of your clients. That is what we do.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do, but there is nothing I - personally - can do to change your feelings. Please keep all of this in mind when you post here. And if I have ever done or said anything to you, personally, to desecrate you or your family - please post those words in quotes here. Take care & I hope this is over.

Regards,

Mike Martoe, Director

When you stop lying.............

#11UPDATE EX-employee responds

Mon, June 16, 2008

As all of you who do your due diligence, I started this for a reason. My reputation was tarnished and I felt bad for my customers being lied to by this company. In response they say I lied and stole....what? I had to file this here and with the BBB and the Attorney Generals office etc. so I could get paid what was owed to me. And the irony of this is all the other reports that surfaced from other asssociates of Student Relations were identical! Go figure. They (SRI, Inc.) are the ones that lied (good enough to start working for them) and stole (held back past due commissions). Just stop and clean up your so called business and then these reports will stop appearing.

Attention Brian Davidson And All Others:..........

#11REBUTTAL Owner of company

Tue, June 10, 2008

We are running a successful company here and do not have the time for any of these 'crank' phone calls. THAT'S INSANE! This person, Brian Davidson, from NJ has a personal vendetta against this company and has even blogged here that he will never give up. With all of the fictitious aliases he created months ago in a 3 week barrage against this company, I can only respond by saying that if you knew anything about this person's background or the company he owned, he'd never get hired by any company. We gave him a shot and he blew it - big time. He lied, cheated and - worst of all stole. We have obtained some sensitive public information about this individual and, hopefully, will not have to make it public here. To us, this is all a waste of time.

**Brian, please stay away from this company and try to resist your temptation to post about our company, Student Relations, Inc. here or anywhere. Unless, of course, it's true. We're happy that you got a new job. We wish you the best and hope we don't drag this out any further. You have created a permanent record of Student Relations, Inc., Michael Martoe and others that simply are not true. That is unfortunate and has potentially damaged the reputations of said company and individuals you mentioned. We are prepared to protect ourselves from you, personally, and your words. Just move on with you're life and be happy.

Regards,
Student Relations, Inc.

Crank Calls Again.......Go Figure

#11UPDATE EX-employee responds

Mon, June 09, 2008

Just as I thought..the crank calls started immediately after my post. As far as BBB it shows the company startt date was 2/29/08. I thought they ahve been in business for 30 years. The fact is they have and all of the reports and claims against this "joke" of a company are filed you just have to finsd them. They just make changes and have a "new" profile. From as far back as Students of America they are the same idiots, different address, changed the company name and still run a shady operation. You see when you stand up and try to warn people, they "crank call you" WOW!

The Truth Is Here:

Here is the link to Student Relations, Inc.'s BBB report:

http://www.seflorida.bbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=11011302

As you can see, we maintain a B+ rating. That should give you an idea of the truthfulness of the source of these posts and ridiculous allegations made by some folks who, one would assume, are bored or just angry misguided people. Again, please do not use a tabloid-blogging website to judge a company, just reach out and call us: 800-424-8900. I know that typing this in response to a post really feels like a waste of time - but the editors of this site recommend we do so.

This is the nature of the world we live in and some of the people who live in it. We certainly cannot change it or the mind or minds of the folks who post here. Please call us if you have any questions.

Regards,

Student Relations, Inc.

Here we go again

#11UPDATE EX-employee responds

Been really busy at my "real " job but decided to see whats happening. As I thought it still is. Get out as fast as you can or the "prank" calls from Louis will start. Also if you do your own research as I did you will see that SRI has numerous complaints and an "F" rating with the BBB. I'm sure you read my postings, they are all TRUE.

"Research" is so much easier than the truth

#11UPDATE EX-employee responds

Tue, June 03, 2008

The only reason this company would not have a record of someone by my name working for them was if they lost it or deleted it. I was "hired" by Student Relations as an independent contractor in August of 2007, while I was still living in DUNKIRK, NY. Apparently, when people move it makes their having worked for the company invalid.

After only a couple of weeks of working for them, which I freely admit, I told them that this job was not working out and sent back in all of their materials. Frankly, I didn't need my conscience nor my reputation to suffer further from such a negative association. Despite sending everything back in, 5 MONTHS later I received an email requesting that I send in all of my materials so that a "new account executive could take over my territory."

The incompetence is staggering. I wish the unfortunate new person who tries to work in my old area luck, because if this company is stupid enough to try and have them sell in towns where the merchants are already very well aware that they're being scammed, they'll probably quit faster than I did.

As we have come to discover, anyone with an email address can make up false identities and residences. You can also post and say whatever you want here - truth or not. But, following the advice of this website's editor, we did our research and found no records of anyone by that name or from that part of New York. Naturally, the allegations and statements are false. Again, we are not the only scholastic publishers in the USA. We do not have contracts with merchants, only Purchase Orders. We publish our products in a timely manner and see to it that they are distributed properly and that each participating merchant receives a sample of the finished product as well as a certificate of appreciation given by each school along with us, the publisher. Again, you can't please everyone, but we try. Our exceptional rating with the BBB does say something about our business practices (don't you think that for a company our size, there would be more complaints?). EVERY negative word spoken about us on this site was posted by 1 or a few former independent contractors - not actual schools or customers. As usual, we invite any unhappy folks to contact us directly: 800-424-8900, or email us through our website: www.studentrelations.org. We can work it out.

Regards,

Student Relations, Inc.
