We purchased a kitten from Nicholas Oberzire and Diane Kush at Styled in the Wild in August of 2013. Within six months this kitten was diagnosed with the deadly genetic disease of HCM, and even though we provided all medical care possible, our kitten suffered greatly and died before she turned one. Per our contract with Nick, we received a replacement kitten, however this kitten not only had HCM but also had the second genetic disease of bilateral patellar luxation. This kitten also passed away before reaching one year.

After watching two of our animals suffer and die, we sent Nick our cats’ cardiology records showing the diseases he’d bred into them and asked for a refund. We also IMPLORED Nick to have his breeding cats checked by an animal cardiologist. Nick would not agree to have his animals professionally checked, and said our only option was to send him over $1000 in additional veterinary tests so that he MIGHT decide to provide us with a third cat from his diseased breeding line.  Additionally, Nick asserts that his cats are fine as he has only had two kittens with heart murmurs, however this shows a fundamental lack of understanding about HCM as murmurs are NOT indicative of the disease.

Based on Nick’s response, we were left with no other option than to file a claim against Styled in the Wild. Please look to other breeders when purchasing a kitten!!!
